Some other sites were a bit closer together and may have had some noise from adjacent sites but our experience was very positive. The campsite was clean and well-kept (the previous reviewer must have hit the camp on a bad day!). The river (on top of a levee at one side of the camp) was lovely to sit by in the morning. There was also a large kids' playground at one end of the camp, and a boat ramp. The camp host (Toni) was friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Note - internet bookings must be made 3 weeks in advance - we just turned up on the Friday lunchtime and the camp host advised us of which sites were available.

Walking anywhere on the scrubby lawn in other places around our site resulted in thick black sooty grease all over our sandals and feet. Only 3 all gender toilets and 2 of them had unusual showers in them but showers were only available certain times of the day. They were too dirty for us to feel comfortable using them. The river ( can't see it from campground) also way too gross to consider swimming in. Murky brown water with lots of trash and greasy film floating on it and warming signs about underwater debris... If I hadn't already driven too long that day, I would never have stayed here. REALLY, its close to the 5 and there aren't many options along that stretch, but only go there if you are desperate.

It is close to the highway but quite and you can climb the levy to have a look at the river.
We didn't use the bathrooms.
All in all not a bad place if it's not busy.

We watched a truck attempt to back a very long Airstream and he finally gave up. There are a few pull throughs (#25 is a long pull through). A number of spaces are irregularly shaped - designed to let you unhook and park a tow vehicle adjacent, They don’t want you parking on the grass
We got here at 2:30 (in March) and by 3:30 people began showing up looking for spaces.
Easy access on and off I5, but far enough away that ylu don’t hear the traffic.

Peaceful campsite by the river, loads of space between sites. Occasional bit of noise from the hosts dogs.

Lots of room between sites. Grass everywhere. Very quiet at night. With a river nearby. Clean. Leveled. Super nice host. What more can you expect.

We pulled in and had our pick of sites. The park is almost empty...I don't know if it gets busy on the weekend, but less than half full for sure. Cell signal is great, so I'm working at the park today, Chris went less than 2 miles down the road to do some more data heavy work at a Starbucks nearby.
After sweltering in heat for the last week, it was actually cool here last night. It might be because of the river just on the other side of the levee...I'm not sure. But either way it was so refreshing.
The bathrooms are probably the biggest drawback, so be aware of that. And I know that there are odd hours for shower usage, but since we have full hookups, I can just shower here and avoid all of that.

Fishing/boat-launch in park. Strange fee structuring according to website, but when we arrived, it was a $25 total per night with sewer/water/30A. Big rig accessible spaces, with a few pull throughs. Park is a short drive to amenities and not too far from 'town' (Lathrop is definetely a newer town without much attraction in itself- mostly just housing). Frequent police patrols drive through the park. Reservations must be made at least 3 weeks in advance. There is no reimbursement for cancelled reservations. Walk-ins are welcome (but tent camping is only allowed Friday through Monday); the park was about 1/2 full during the week in the month of May.
Back to the camphosts. Not really sure what their function is at this park, but they are pretty much the only detracting factor. Pretty impossible to get ahold of (i.e. to ask if we owed any additional monies/etc.) as their phone just rings and you can't walk up to their trailer (fenced off with a sign that says to call). Also spoke with a few other people in the park who were unable to contact camphosts. The showers (which didn't appear clean) have strange hours (8am-10am, then 5pm-6pm) but the signs on the park's showers also clearly state to contact the camphost if shower is off between the hours of 10am-8pm and you wish to use them. We watched as the camphosts refused to turn water on (within those hours) for a party of folks who had been hiking all day. We let them shower in our rig instead- no one wants to be stinky.
Overall, decently priced park for California. We'd stay again if we ever needed to be in the area.
