“Well-Located for Vancouver Sightseeing”

Reviewed Jul 28, 2017

Overall Rating

We reserved two nights at Dogwood on the strength of its CAA/AAA and Woodall's recommendations and despite reading several less-than-favourable reviews. We were looking for a place to stay for two nights while visiting Vancouver during the day, and found it to be an excellent option. Judging from the architecture of the office and other buildings, Dogwood was likely established in the 1960s at a time when its location was rural or semi-rural. The Vancouver suburbs have built up around it and, given the Vancouver housing situation, many RV sites appear to be occupied on a permanent or semi-permanent basis with mixed ages of RVs and levels of care.

Along one road a row of RVs appeared to be in storage, for sale or perhaps abandoned and move off designated sites, but this was only a minor detractor, as was one road that is overdue for repair. The park is immediately adjacent to a major highway so there is the constant white noise of traffic.

There was wifi at the front office building which included a very inexpensive laundromat and clean, pleasant showers and toilets.

Tent sites are definitely the nicest and we appreciated the flexibility of staff who let us put our 13' trailer on one of them. I've included two photos taken from the same spot looking in two directions.

Thirty minutes into downtown Vancouver made the Dogwood near perfect in our books!

“Beware. The only park we've pulled out of.”

Reviewed Jan 21, 2017

Overall Rating

We were visiting the B.C. area and had reserved a spot here - Google reviews were pretty good, and the photos on the website made the park look really clean. But when we got into the campground we left almost immediately. Sites were extremely tight and unlevel with massive tree roots going through them, and were positioned at an impossible angle to back in without hitting a tree or a neighbor. The park is full of lots of abandoned-looking and dilapidated RVs, someone was going through the garbage as we drove through, and it's so close to the freeway that there's a billboard advertising to drivers right in the middle of the campground. They wouldn't refund us anything, but we didn't feel safe staying there.
