Doby Springs Park

You can't beat this country campground for solitude. Not a single car passed by in the 18 hours we were there and we were the only campers in early April. A pretty big area with a big pavilion, playground, and a mowed, rustic trail out through the hills. Grass was green and nicely mowed in the campground.

Payment is weird. You either pay in town or at the golf course next to the campground. At the golf course, you pay inside the office in the same little envelope you'd use for a round of golf, but you mark a little box for "camping".

The "dump station" is on the far west end of the campground along the edge of the woods, but it's kinda useless. It's for grey water only. It does appear to have a hydrant next to the hole, but that hydrant was being used to fill a livestock water tank on the adjacent landowner's property.

Water hydrants didn't work at some sites, but worked at others. Additionally, check the power carefully. One box worked but was only loosely held onto the post. The grounding wire was visibly detached on another box.

Also, be careful in the sites near the woods. They don't call it "Doby Springs" for nothing...the ground can get rather soft in the wet season.

Arrived after hours. The GPS was accurate. Easy access off the main road. Park like setting with large trees, less then 10 spots. 20,30,50 amp service already turned on and ready to go. Ground was level all grass , no gravel pads. Water available. No Dump station, several dumpsters.
Small older play ground and covered pavilion. We are traveling in a 28 ft class C.
I would caution the big rigs might be to tight. However the camping area is all paved / blacktop. The road in the park is large enough for larger campers to drive through and check it out.
We were not able to pay due to late arrival. Plan to call and pay by phone.
