... and by storm I mean the 7 miles of washed out road. Once we got to Diablo Canyon, we really enjoyed our first boondocking experience! Peaceful, spacious, and beautiful scenery. Would I camp there again? Probably if I got confirmation that the road has improved. Otherwise, I’ll probably look for another boondocking place.

We didn't actually camp here. We were checking it out for our fifth wheel. The road is too rough (8 miles of bad washboard) and the sites are too small and not very flat for van camping. Walking all the way to the river was not necessary; the canyon itself was the highlight.

Well the location is pretty special. So special, they were filming a Hollywood movie there the next day. The spot is a very popular hiking destination and the parking lot was full when we arrived. The camping sites are dotted around the edge and there was one left that we took. Got setup but then found we weren't able to get any signal, even with the directional booster. Had to pack up and find another spot so didn't end up staying the night. Lots of trash strewn around unfortunately. They have a portable toilet but no dumpster. Would still stay here again if we didn't have to work. Road in from Santa Fe is narrow in places and is pretty washboarded out with a few tight curves. I wouldn't attempt with anything over 35ft.
