Lots of hunters in this area from Dec 1 through at least mid-February. Best to avoid during those times unless you are hunting. Access down adequate dirt/sandy road, but go slow. Be aware there are ditches with water in them across the road. Some are "rock ditches", ie. they have heavy gravel in the bottom so you won't get stuck in the mud or sand. Check out the depth of the water carefully. I put on rubber boots and walked out into one, which turned out to be only 5-6" deep and passable, though I couldn't tell that without walking across it. They are meant to be driven through. This site was not attractive - swampy area round it, open rough field with picnic table and fire ring. Short road into the campsite itself was very rutted and muddy. I ended up camping in the intersection of 2 dirt roads just outside the actual site. However, many pick up trucks of hunters came through. Glad I had a chat with one guy and he alerted his buddies to watch out for me -- very kind. Even though it was way down a dirt road, it was close enough to 65 that I could hear the cars all night. Verizon was spotty, 1-2 bars.

From highway 98 in Eastpoint, turn north on highway 65 to Tower Road to the sign for Deep Creek Tract, directly across from the Tate's Hell Forest field office. Turn onto Tower Road and go 1 mile to the 3-way intersection. Continue north on Tower Road to Deep Creek Road for a total of just under 2.5 miles from Hwy 65. Turn left on Deep Creek Road for 3.7 miles to the campsite. A unique feature of this site is a small stand of dwarf cypress trees.
