Tons of MTB trails all around the park and the rimrock. The park is on the Verde River and includes several fishing lagoons where no dogs are allowed. However dogs are allowed by the river and there are trails all over to explore and play in the water. The camp sites are a little more primitive than Lost Dutchman but clean and tidy. The tent camping is even more impressive with the best tent spot being 116. This park is at a higher elevation so it gets cooler; we camped here in late November 2021 and temps ranged about 39 - 75 during that time.
AT&T signal was pretty weak but was able to pull down 28Mbps down and 5Mbps up using the WeBoost.

We really enjoyed our stay here! It was our first RV experience. Clean restrooms, large back-in site, room for a tent setup. Tuzigoot National Monument and downtown Cottonwood are nearby for fun day activities. The ponds are nice to walk around. Overall a great stay!

I don’t know what more you could want from a campground before giving it five stars. The spacing is good. The bathrooms are clean. The hosts are committed. Power to the entire campground went out one night and they fixed it ----during the night same night!!!!!! The park is large. There are beautiful hiking trails, some by ponds that are five star rated on the excellent All Trails app. There are horses. The smartest thing to do is to base here and explore the area, particularly Sedona, which is so popular and crowded. Great restaurants in Cottonwood. Don't miss the Verde railroad. Good cell service! Great value for money!
Five stars all the way.

Here in early September it was very hot and the water features were quite dry. We took a stroll but didn’t really spend enough time to give a thorough review. Seemed nice for fishing in the lagoons. Also good for base camp to explore Jerome (which we didn’t do on this trip).

The forests were closed in Northern Arizona due to wildfires, so I decided to give this park a try. It was hot as should be expected, but the temperature was made up for by the tranquility. I fished, hiked, and biked in the mornings, and stayed in camp in the afternoons. One afternoon I visited old town Cottonwood, which is only a few miles away. It's a small area but nice to visit if you like antiques or wine tasting.
There are no sewer hookups at the camp sites but the dump station at the entrance to the park was easy to access.
The review form only lets me pick up to 4G/LTE3 but I had 2-3 bars of 5G while at the park. It was great for streaming to my FireTV stick in the evenings.

I really cannot say enough great things about the parks in Arizona. This park has several different campgrounds. Each camp has its own host. The hosts cleaned each site as people moved in and out. Many of the sites around us had campers staying for single nights. The hosts would rake the grounds each time. They also cleaned the firepits, leaving any unused wood stacked neatly on the grates for the next person. We visited during March/Covid and face masks were still required when using the public bath houses. Although the shower stalls were older, they were cleaned daily. On one occasion, I ran out of hot water during my shower. I'm sure the time of day was the reason. This location is in close proximity to several different day trips. We visited Sedona, Jerome, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monument. We had T-Mobile 5G coverage without the need to use the booster. We were in Coopers Hawk Loop. There wasn't much shade in the area. If you want more shade, I'd recommend staying in Quail Loop. It's closer to the river and there are trees in the area.

Not Sedona, mind you. Not even close, but still it was nice to take a hike directly from our site. Lots of mountain bikes. Asphalt pad.

Beware curtains are short so dry area floods no matter what you do. Hair in drain and other filth around. Needs a serious update to be in same shape as all other state parks. Men's appear to be cleaner. Ladies disabled stall does not have hand held shower head like men's.
Nice camping apart from that.
