Beautiful setting in the woods, yet only 15 minutes from Carson City, and 30 from Reno. Clean, lots of trails, fishing pond, and the rangers were all extremely nice. Some of the rv sites are reservable 15 days in advance. The others are FCFS. Place was full on the weekend, but cleared out Sunday afternoon.

We ended up here after all the sites were taken in Washoe Lake State Park. I'm glad we did, it was much nicer being in the shade of the beautiful pine trees. There are a ton of sites and by the end of the night every one of them was full. The ones closest to the highway were pull-through, and ones up the hill were back in. We went with the pull-through ones for simplicity, but I think we would have preferred the back in since it felt more exposed having our front door essentially right on the road. We were able to get a tiny bit of T-mobile cell service from the sites closest to the road, though. There was no T-Mobile signal otherwise, though. There were no hookups, but water is nearby. The firepit was sparkling clean (and they had firewood on site for $5). They do have pay showers, $1 (quarters only) for 3 minutes. The shower was hot and had good pressure. I did notice that they have a second shower, but it's situated sharing walls with the main shower, with a large gap between the walls, so if you were using the smaller shower you would definitely be visible to the person in the large shower. The rate was $25 per night, plus $5 for using the dump station, and $1 per pet, plus the cost of showers. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again.
TL;DR: A little crowded, but a great pine forest getaway from the sun and heat of the summer.

We spent one night in the winter. The boys had a lot of fun in the snow. There was quite a bit of snow, so it was hard to find the tables and fire pits. The restrooms were open, and warm, which was very nice. There were a few other groups there, but we were pretty spaced out. I imagine this place is quite busy in the summer.

The only thing different I would do for next time is call ahead and reserve a site. We would’ve stayed longer but we were in a reserved site.

This is a nice county campground set in the trees west of 395 between Reno and Carson city. It has reasonably sized sites with tables, bear boxes, and fire pits. Running potable water and clean bathrooms with coin showers. They keep one loop open for year round camping. You can hear road noise from 395 but it is not bad.

There are trails to walk and hike and a pond for fishing.Washoe Lake is across the highway a short drive away. Bathrooms with shower are clean (shower is 4 quarters for 3 mins). Sites are spacious with plenty of room to spread out. We camp with tents and usually have more than 1 vehicle (extra vehicle $5.00) and we have plenty of room.
It is a short drive to Carson City (south) and Reno (north) if you need supplies. We love this place.
