However, this campground is too close to 395 to qualify as a quiet campground. (55 decibels, if you’re keeping track of that sort of thing)
Trailer people might think twice about coming here, but for Sprinters, VW Buses or tenters, it’s fine…for one night.

Came up here to use the dump station, since Washoe Lake State Parks was closed due to the lakes rising water table. Their dump station is on at least a 30º slope, downhill! There is no chance in heck you will get more than half you tank dumped. Driving through the campground, it is pretty, but you best be under 30’ for sure and have PLENTY of leveling material, I would guess 5% of the sites approached level. Best for tent campers.

It’s in a decent location between Reno and Carson City. You’ll definitely hear car noise but it isn’t overly aggravating. The lower RV sites are decent but you still need to do some blocking to get your rig level. The uphill sites are tiny and I wouldn’t want to try unless I had a van or a truck camper and you’re gonna have to do some heavy duty chocking and blocking. I think the reviewer weroamandrambke covered it best. Firewood is now $8.

We came for the showers, bring quarters.
$1.50 gets you 4 minutes.
Can hear road noise from I580 but not terrible.
Sites are some level, some not. About half full when we were here. $25 for site only, no services.
Would stay again.

Beautiful setting in the woods, yet only 15 minutes from Carson City, and 30 from Reno. Clean, lots of trails, fishing pond, and the rangers were all extremely nice. Some of the rv sites are reservable 15 days in advance. The others are FCFS. Place was full on the weekend, but cleared out Sunday afternoon.

We ended up here after all the sites were taken in Washoe Lake State Park. I'm glad we did, it was much nicer being in the shade of the beautiful pine trees. There are a ton of sites and by the end of the night every one of them was full. The ones closest to the highway were pull-through, and ones up the hill were back in. We went with the pull-through ones for simplicity, but I think we would have preferred the back in since it felt more exposed having our front door essentially right on the road. We were able to get a tiny bit of T-mobile cell service from the sites closest to the road, though. There was no T-Mobile signal otherwise, though. There were no hookups, but water is nearby. The firepit was sparkling clean (and they had firewood on site for $5). They do have pay showers, $1 (quarters only) for 3 minutes. The shower was hot and had good pressure. I did notice that they have a second shower, but it's situated sharing walls with the main shower, with a large gap between the walls, so if you were using the smaller shower you would definitely be visible to the person in the large shower. The rate was $25 per night, plus $5 for using the dump station, and $1 per pet, plus the cost of showers. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay here again.
TL;DR: A little crowded, but a great pine forest getaway from the sun and heat of the summer.

We spent one night in the winter. The boys had a lot of fun in the snow. There was quite a bit of snow, so it was hard to find the tables and fire pits. The restrooms were open, and warm, which was very nice. There were a few other groups there, but we were pretty spaced out. I imagine this place is quite busy in the summer.

The only thing different I would do for next time is call ahead and reserve a site. We would’ve stayed longer but we were in a reserved site.

The indoor plumbing restrooms are clean & stocked, Same for the PAY type showers @ $1.00 for 3 minutes of hot water. RV campsites are SHADED, paved & level.
Tent campsites are available. There are a few FREE, shaded parking areas for CARS near the trailhead for HIKERS & nearby vault type porta-johns.
I have a hearing loss, I've not noticed the nearby highway road noise.
