Davis Bayou Campground

This park is very pretty , quiet and close to anything you may need. The town of Ocean Springs is just a few miles away and very quaint. The sites, for the most part, I would consider close but adequate. The only con would be the showers. The water at best is warm and you need to make it a short shower because it turns cold within 2-3 minutes. The bathrooms and showers were clean. Park Rangers come by a few times a day to make sure all rules are followed. I would definitely come again.

We stayed four nights in October, 2023. This was our third time at Davis Bayou and will not be the last. We've stayed in sites 23, 35, and 36, all on the outside of the loop on the south side of the campground. The campground and facilities are quiet and well maintained. Everything there is kept clean. The grounds, roads, dump station, bathrooms, and showers are well maintained. The utilities at the site are well placed. Water pressure at the campsites is excellent and the power connection boxes are modern. The showers have good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The NPS staff that takes care of the campground does good work and are all good folks to deal with. We didn't get a chance to interact with the camp hosts.

The sites in the middle of the loop are very open without much privacy. The sites outside the loop all back up to heavy woods and are more private, but still close together.

The boat launch is close to the campground and is similarly well maintained. There is ample parking there and it never seems to be too congested. The area is good for walking. The campground is connected by walking path to a quiet residential area that actually has sidewalks!

Verizon cell and data service was minimal with about 2-3 bars of 4G. Data service worked reasonably well with a booster but would not support streaming.

There are a few minor negatives. One, the sites are tightly spaced and don't offer a lot of buffer between sites. Two, the site driveways are short. Of the three we stayed in, #36 was the only one that was really big enough to accommodate our 22' trailer and tow vehicle. That seems to be the norm in the campground. The folks with bigger rigs really had to get creative with parking. The dump station is oddly located inside the campground on the inbound loop near the entrance. That results in quite a traffic jam when a lot of people are checking out at the same time. It also means making an extra trip around the campground to get to and exit the dump station.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #41, an E/W, BI site for $11/night with an America the Beautiful Senior Pass. This is my second time staying here. As the first time was right after a major storm I wanted to post another review. The roads and sites are asphalt – newly resurfaced in many areas. The site was perfectly level. There was also a concrete pad under the picnic table. The campground is fairly open. It was a little hard to back into due to the narrow access road. The park was very quiet. The bathhouse was clean and nice. Only a handful of OTA channels, no wifi, and 2-3 bars LTE with Verizon. The sites I would try to get include 19 (shaded) and 9. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area.

The campground had newly paved, level sites in a wooded area. The bathrooms and showers were clean. The park itself has a few walking trails, but some areas are closed for lack of maintenance. There is a nice boat ramp and a fishing pier. The signage to the pier was sketchy - it’s off to the left of the visitor center at the far end of the parking lot. The rangers were nice and there is a park manager onsite. Price was $22 per night with a 50% discount for a Senior Pass. Overall it was a nice stay.

Beautiful area lovely place to rest take in hiking biking kayaking pet friendly bark control loved the museum and the ranger medicine and story telling ang campfire gathering at night awesomeness. U must make reservations ahead of time this place stays packed. Only downfall check in to late. Day half gone. Then leave early next day. Changed site s to much. Lots of us did. Repeatly. System needs to fix that. Site manager has no control. She and her staff are nice. Clean campground. Yes I definitely want to stay more. Wifi needs help

We stopped here en route, so just a quick stay, but we intend to return for a longer one. Many of the hiking trails are damaged due to a recent hurricane, but there was still plenty to explore, and the shoreline was very relaxing and peaceful. Very close to Ocean Springs for groceries, restaurants, etc., but far enough away to be very quiet. Sites were pretty well spaced out and mostly level, bathhouse was new and very nice, friendly staff.

Small, but clean campground with restrooms/showers. Recently repaved with level pads, fire ring, picnic table, shore water and electricity hookups at each site, and dump and fresh water stations. Only one short 3.5 hike avail from camp to visitors center (with short .5 mile trail loop). Bike path for 15-20 minute ride into Ocean Springs for restaurants/entertainment.

Will never camp there again left after first night. Nothing in the rules about golf carts they watch everything you do my trailer tire was about 6 inches off the pavement they made me unhook and move it over. You can ride golf carts down town so tried to get their on mine and was stopped by the ranger police and told pick it up or get a ticket. Ruined the hole weekend because that was my only way of transportation. Way to many rules only camp there if you like being able n prison and treated like a child. Never will go back
