We got there late due to weather and driving conditions, owners and staff stayed open late for us. We got there about 40 minutes after closing, should have been there at 2 in the afternoon.. but all was good, great people great campsite and beautiful campground. I would stay there again without hesitation! I never saw one piece of trash on the ground!! NOT ONE!!! This camp gets 5 STAR RATING FROM ME!!! My site may have been cheaper than some others but I am a senior citizen, and probably got a discount,. We had a 14 foot travel trailer, which sat unattended for 2 days while we took in the sites, and no one ever disturbed the trailer or firewood we left out side or our chairs! ***** YEP THATS RIGHT 5 BIG STARS!

Some of the sites down the hill are very close together. The bad thing was because we "on top of the hill" we were next to the road with alot of road noise during the day (none during the night).
The staff and owners were very nice and helpful. The pool was nice but small. There was no fenced dog area but there is a fenced dog park in Custer.
I didn't use the restrooms or the laundry room but they looked clean. I tried to use the laundry room but it was full so I went to the Lost Sock in Custer.
The camp store seemed to be well stocked and I enjoyed the book swap found in the laundry room.
We enjoyed the area so we extended our stay another week.
I highly recommend the Black Hills Bun and Burger restaurant and Pizza Works.

Stay 6 nights get the 7th free.
Really really really loud because of the road.
Verizon was not usable on my phone and iPad but was usable on my partner’s older phone and our hotspot that uses 3G or 4G. T-mobile sometimes worked great, sometimes not at all. We didn’t put up our booster.

We weren't so crazy about the drive to get to our spot. The hills are fairly steep and our rig barely made it through all the pine trees.
Also, the management was very confusing. We originally reserved an electric-only site for a cheaper price, but when we arrived our site clearly had water and sewer hookups as well. When we called to ask, they said we could use the sewer drain to dump at the end of our stay but shouldn't stay hooked up because we hadn't paid for FHU. So weird, but it worked out fine for us because we didn't need FHU and were happy to pay less.
Overall, we would stay here again if the price was still cheaper than everywhere else in town.

All the amenities were WELL worth the $45 per night. We normally boondock camp, but this time, we were doing all the Rushmore and Badlands tourist stuff. It was nice to have the full hookups this trip!

We're pulling in after a long, gorgeous day (but long) exploring the Black Hills. We've already been here for a couple of days, so our rig is all setup, just coming home in our van.
An older gentleman is walking in the road. At first I pay no mind, pedestrians get the right of way. But then I recognize him.
The day before I was doing 7mph in the 5mph park. I get it, I have a bunch of rugrats and I try to respect the whole "go slow, don't kill kids" thing. Anyway, this fellow hops out of his horse trailer that he's living in and starts yelling at me to slow down. I see the 2mph excess on my speedometer and thusly proceed to bring it well under what my gauge can even register.
As I pass by him, he waves me to stop. I won't get into details but suffice to say he feels the need to play grandpa police and the conversation ends with me getting out of the vehicle, acting like an ass, there is cussing, cursing and otherwise, and eventually we all go on our way (both of us satisfied, I assume, at the amount of finger pointing and chest puffing we'd done).
So anyway, I forget about it... Until I realize that he's literally walking in front of us now at whatever 1.04 mph speed a person can trudge along at here on our return from a great day I these beautiful lands.
I catch the guy staring at our campsite twice that evening. Like, "old man watching you for way too long" staring. I find him trailing my kids on their bikes, hanging around the pool every single time they're there.
So I complain to the manager, in fact inform her that I'm downright disturbed by this guy. She calls him in and tells him to stay away from us, in the kind of way that made it obvious he was a workamper and she couldn't afford to lose him.
He doesn't bother us again, but magically when we go to leave she'd "forgotten" about some $50 in charges she hadn't billed me.
Sweet spot for exploring the Black Hills but just try not to hang around the park too long. Also, there's a killer giant rock pile formation to play on if you prefer that sort of thing to a swing set. :)
