I’m going to give you the review you are searching for. First of all, it’s beautiful. For a free place to pop up and do some primitive camping and “tuffing” it, it’s great. I didn’t go too far into the numbered sites bc when I got to site 4 people were leaving and we just pulled off to wait for the space. the space was great nice pull in size for our suv with a little room to spare could have fit 3 cars tightly but 2 comfortably. the tent pad provided is probably 12x12 feet, so if your tent is larger you won’t be able to use the tent pad for your tent but there was extra room at the site, there was a fire pit already established, and you are camping right next to a creek. privacy wise, you could hear people in a distance(if you were trying that hard) but can’t really see them through the trees and bush, plus with the creek noise you couldn’t hear them anyways. The ONLY “issue” I would say, is the park ranger that was driving around, he pulled up on our site asking if we had alcohol, asked to see in our cooler and to looked in the car. Asked some questions and then proceeded to tell us he was waiting for the people next to us. Not long after he left he was down there writing tickets to people. He circled around a few more time through the night. I’ve never minded rangers doing their job making sure people are safe, but you could tell this guy was just READY to get someone. And for that I’m taking away a star, because we almost felt harassed 30 minutes upon arriving. And we were just sleeping for a night passing through. Also, the road to get there is gravel and has some pot holes. You could easily fit a car, truck, suv. But I wouldn’t recommend and large campers. But all in all would go back again for some free family camping. I definitely would not camp here if you were looking to have a fun night partying in the woods. Also one more thing. Make your phone calls before you even get on Curtis creek. No cell service whatsoever

“Horrible. The sites had no privacy to them.”

Had to leave after i got everything set up. Did NOT feel safe, as 2 men in their trucks pulled up near my site, sat in their trucks and just watched me. Have been a camper for years and never had a problem. Did not feel safe here. And, the pull-offs to camp were not private.. too close to the road for me. Constant traffic up and down the road. Not my idea of getting away from it all. Have always stayed in campgrounds. Guess these free places attract anyone.

“Gate Closed On March 26th”

noted 3/28/2023

Tried staying on March 26, 2023. Gate on the gravel road was closed about 3/4 of a mile off the paved road. Guessing it opens when the campground opens. But just a guess. No legal campsites available when the gate is closed.
