No WiFi or service which was tough in case of emergencies. Spots are pretty spacious, and had a campfire pit in each one. No need to bring wood, as there is a ton laying around the area already chopped. Loud music played until around midnight, but other guests were friendly and helpful.

Drove up for the President's Day weekend. Hoped to stay lower in elevation at Coldbrook Campground but it was closed due tree work. So we drove on 8 miles further up the steep and windy CA-39 to Crystal Lake campground. It was partially open since the snow had mostly melted. Drove through years ago to see what it was like on a dry run. At that time, during the summer, the campground was full of car campers, people everywhere, general disrespect and mayhem you've come to expect from places too close to cities. This place is HUGE! About 200 first come first served sites. Crystal Lake and Coldbrook campground are your only options along CA-39. Drive all the way up the road to a full campground and you're going to have to head all the way back down! BUT this winter weekend was peaceful! The site is beautiful. Great hiking opportunities for all ages and fitness. There are no spaces whatsoever that would fit a large trailer or motorhome. Lastly, do not expect a pretty lake. Poor, tiny Crystal Lake (pond) is pretty pathetic.

The sites themselves are big , but the drive way among sites are not really designed for RV, so it could be difficult to park and position the RV pending on the sites. That is the only complain we have for this campground. Weekend the site could get very crowded and full easily. We love staying here. No dump station though, there are toilets and some slow running fresh water tab in some of the site
