Stayed in October lots of locals use beach as a road so it’s not quiet. Many people living in tents and old campers. Beach is not clean lot of trash. Never felt safe here. We read all the good reviews and thought it would be great but Not!

If you turn right onto the beach, there are some great places. There is already a wash out going that way so you don’t go very far. If you go left you have tons of miles to drive down the beach and you can park anywhere. The closet the tide got was about 30 yards for the camper. Safe for me, put me right to sleep. A lot of people drive by daily, especially on the weekend. A local man I talked to said in the spring and summer it’s beyond packed with two rows of campers lining the beach.

God bless Texas! Awesome. You will need the $10 Beach sticker and apparently the 'season' runs Jan 1 to Dec 31 so yeah, it's all year. Not entirely sure we'll ever leave :)

Great spot to boondock. Lots of hard packed sand and wide open spaces. Police patrol regularly. Unlimited miles to walk. Dogs welcome on leash.

Nice beach, permit not required during the off season. Not crowded, miles and miles of beach with moderate tide fluctuations. Porta-potties scattered along the access roads and garbage cans along the dunes. Regular trash pickup and periodic law enforcement patrols. Nightly fireworks. Would stay again.

We camped there during February so it was empty. Nobody else was camping there for miles. Few people were having gatherings on the weekend and some people during the week having walks or just driving by. But nothing bothering.
The sand is packed hard so it's easily accessible. Our heavy rig didn't even leave a mark.
The only noise we could hear at night was the sound of the waves and the wind. Once in a while, a car riding on the beach.
The beach was ok clean. You could see that it's really popular cause there's few couple of trashes here and there.

We stayed here in early Dec. 2019 and the beach only had a few people camping and some day folk. It has no amenities but you are right on the beach and the view is absolutely amazing! The locals said it does get pretty crowded in the summer months. We will definitely be back!

Take I-45 SE from downtown Houston to Galveston and get on a free ferry over to Bolivar Peninsula. Stay 14 days for $10 bucks, what a deal.
