“Could be a great Park”

First, this is a beautiful area. Right next to the lake, the bridge and the historic site. There is a boat dock, light house and easy access to several small interesting towns.

Don't miss the lighthouse, the dock and the historic ruins of the other side of the street.

Unfortunately, I have to believe that this park is under funded. The bathrooms should be closed by the health department. Most of the roads throughout the park are a disaster. The sites are very mixed. Sites include parking on the grass or there are some sites that have a gravel pad.

There are water spigots throughout the park but challenging to use to fill and RV. There is a dump on the side of the road within the park but no fresh water.

If it rains, get ready for lots of mud! Pick your site wisely. Lots of drainage issues.

We used google earth to see our site. We wanted lots of sun for the solar panels. Unfortunately that also means that you are at the front of the park with lots of road noise during the day.

Campground is pretty clean but I marked it down due to the bathrooms.

“Very nice quiet State Park”

This is a very nice, clean and quiet New York State park that is well situated to use as a base for exploring the southern Lake Champlain area. The campground is located on the shores of Lake Champlain and several of the sites have unobstructed lake views. Our site was forty feet from the lake but our view was obstructed by some trees. Ample lake access is available thought the campground.

The sites are large and will maintained. There are no services at the sites (i.e., no water, electric or sewer.) However, there are plenty of water spigots around the campground to provide water. Some sites are sunny while some are in partial shade. Generators are allowed during restricted hours but we did not notice much usage unlike some other NYS campgrounds where people seem determined to run them every minute that they are permitted. We had a nice partially sunny site that allowed out solar setup to keep the batteries fully charged. There is a convenient dump site on the premises.

Phone, internet (VZ hotspot,) FM radio (including NPR) and TV reception were very good.

The park offers a boat ramp giving boaters access to the entire 125 mile long Lake Champlain. Fort Ticonderoga Historical site is about 20 minutes away as well as the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum. Both of these sites offer superb insight into the history of this strategic area from the early-1700's through the War of 1812. There is a historical site on the property that played a major role during the Revolutionary War.
