“Not Safe, tow vehicle broken into while we were in motor home!”

We decided to park here one night on a cross country trip. We didn’t want to stay in downtown Memphis due to high crime so looked further down the road for a safer spot. Lakeland looked really nice and a well to do neighborhood. Well we should have gone farther…our tow vehicle was broken into in broad daylight behind our rig. Window smashed and all our belongings thrown about. Total bummer. Worst part was the guy came up to our driver window and knocked on it, we thought he worked for Cracker Barrel because he started talking about us having to move but not quite making sense, we were confused so I told my husband to go with the guy into the restaurant and talk with the manager. As they walked the guy didn’t go in the restaurant and instead took off down the street, that’s when we knew something wasnt right and discovered our tow vehicle had been vandalized. We didn’t hear a thing! I honestly believe he was going to break into our RV next but didn’t realize we were in there. Police were called and informed us that there were a lot of break ins and this was very common. Evidently these vandals work in groups and are mainly looking for fire arms (explains why nothing was taken) At this point it was dark and we didn’t feel safe staying there any longer, we asked the officer what’s the next safest town and he suggested Jackson which is about 65 miles East. We ended up at the Cracker Barrel there and it was MUCH safer

Location was good off the I-40. Seperated from the freeway and sheltered from the wind by the building and trees.
Dennis Spillane would stay here again
