No office presence upon arrival and had to call a number to get my site number. 3 minutes later, I realized my site was occupied, I called back and never got an answer. I called for the rest of the day from my phone and my partners phone with no avail, so, we set up in another site. Halfway through the week, a new manager showed up to tell us we were going to have to move to our original site, once it was vacated. I tried to explain how much work it was to move and offered other solutions many times, but he was adamant on making us move 40 feet so that it was "right on paper". He had no problem complaining about other visitors to me from our first conversation. The entire situation gave me extreme anxiety. Ultimately, each person who pushed back didn't have to move. The squeaky wheel got greased. So, if you choose to stay here and there's a problem, apparently you can just give management hell and get what you want.
While there are plenty of warnings in previous reviews about the interstate noise, the homeless population, and the neighborhood, my biggest problem was the park's mis-management.
The pool and restrooms were also closed. And when we were departing, the sewer lines backed up and overflowed into the grass. We had to dump our tanks elsewhere. Additionally, somehow, even though we left a day early, I still got charged extra money when my reservation was updated from 8 days to 7.
There is nothing that they could have done within their business model to receive a 5 star review from me. I had a truly awful experience here.

Covered Wagon RV Park was a welcome respite from our boondocking Southwest adventure. Angie was very helpful and available to answer my questions. The laundry room was available every time I needed to use it despite only having one dryer out of 3 functioning. They have ordered new machines, so I really appreciated that they are addressing the issue. The bathrooms were clean and spacious with great water pressure. We are a family with 4 young kids and found it extremely difficult to find any parks in the area who would even allow our family in. Covered Wagon was accepting of our family which I was grateful for 100%. The park is waiting on permits to open up the pool, so we were not able to use it. My kids and I are hiking to return someday so we can experience that! The neighborhood is a bit rough, but we felt safe enough. I have seen complaints of noise but we did not experience any problems with noise. From booking to check out, this park was a breeze to navigate and I really appreciated their automated communicating via email, very helpful!

The description of “premium” is misleading, it’s a tight spot for 30+ ft rigs and the concrete is under your steps / patio area not for the trailer. You will be parking on dirt.
Honestly if they put a gate on this place and we’re honest in the description of the site I’d bump this to a 3 star review.

The good: The park is under new management and they are helpful and friendly. In fact, I met several people there and everyone was very nice.
The one shower that worked had great pressure and was hot. The laundry was cheap and machines were big. Each site had its own trash can.
We were not bothered or had anything stolen when we were there. Only park patrons entered the park.
It may be the only RV park in Phoenix that is not 55+.
The bad: The neighborhood. Pulling in we saw active drug use at right of the driveway. The second night there were nearby gunshots.
The park was too crowded. RVs were parked not only in the sites but also in the driving areas. If you are not comfortable backing up your RV in very small spaces I do not recommend this park at all. A earlier review used the word "unprofessional" in regards to the parking and I think that is a fair assessment.
The bathroom needs an overall. Only 1 of the 4 showers work.
I love cats but there are multiple strays in the campground. I have two cats and I was concerned about tracking an illness inside. If you have a dog thar can't handle cats I wouldn't come here.
The noise. When I made the reservation I was fully aware of its proximity to I-17 and was not concerned. The highway can be heard but the park also had barking dogs, gunshots and general noise from the nearby apartments into the night.
Utilities were at the back of the site. If you want to hookup or dump make sure you have long cords and pipes.
All in all it was a mixed experience. I would not return but nothing bad happened to me during my stay.

Dirt pad. Everything worked ok. Not a good part of town. VERY noisy inside RV with earplugs. Glad only 2 nights. Not a lot of options right in the suburbs of Phoenix.

Just stayed at this campground for a month and felt like leaving a review considering the high number of negative reviews having to do with the neighborhood. I wanna start by acknowledging that it is indeed not the fanciest campground. The spots are smallish and all back-ins. It is in downtown Phoenix, which is not a location particularly sought after by most campers, I imagine. The campground does allow rigs to park in the main driveway for short period of times, which may seem unprofessional. And, lastly, there is no gate. That being said, and I know that doesn't cancel out other people's negative experience, my husband and I felt perfectly safe here. We never noticed any intruders or had anything stolen. I know that's a low bar to clear, and maybe our standards are so humble because we were just happy to find a place to stay at all. (Trying to find a place in Phoenix while being under 55 felt like mission impossible, and we planned in August for November.) But there are other things to recommend this park. The showers are nice enough. The park has a pool, picnic benches, and trees for shade. More importantly for us: the free wifi worked really well. The camp hostess is not the most responsive, but helpful enough when you can reach her. Also, they didn't cause us any trouble when it came to refunding us the portion of the $200 electricity deposit we didn't use up. Overall, if you are booking your stay early enough in advance to have options I wouldn't seek out this park, but in a pinch -and if you can't do any of the 55+ parks- it works just fine.

Parked pickups also block parts of the drive. The neighborhood surrounding the walled RV park is one of the worst in Phoenix. Severe homelessness and crime. The police helicopter is nearly a nightly presence. We never left chairs or grill out. Basement and entry doors were always locked at night. On the plus side, the park isn't too far away from restaurants, grocery etc. The laundry has three washers and four dryers, all work fine. Angie, the manager is helpful and friendly, if you can find her. She is frequently not in the office. Due to close proximity to I17 you get to listen endless traffic sounds. The locals seem to enjoy street racing sans mufflers in the middle of the night. Definitely will not stay here again.

We were visiting family in Phoenix, and this was the only park relatively close with availability in the first week of March. The location is truly dreadful, with many homeless people milling about at the street corner and in the block, plus numerous tweakers and other shady-looking characters. We pulled into the campground and immediately exited. Would we have been safe staying here? Possibly. Would we have felt safe, especially at night? No way.
I don't like leaving negative reviews, but at $66 per night we should feel safe in the campground. I gave this park two stars instead of one, only because the park itself has trees and looked decent. I just hope we can get some of our money back.
