Overall Rating
We really enjoy Council Bluff campground. It is a federal recreation area campground and has a number of campsites and is perfect for different size rv's or tent camping. The sites are all well shaded, it is usually not very crowded and there are a lot of things to do in the area. The lake is nice and has a beach, there are several places to hike and you are withing 30-40 minutes of some of the nicest sites in the Ozarks including the Ozark trail, Elephant Rocks State Park, Johnson Shut ins State Park and others.
There is no electric or water at the sites but water is available through out the campground. Vault toilets are spread through out the campground. There are plenty of level sites and group sites.
If you are looking for a simple getaway with some nice sites that include picnic tables and fire pits, that is relatively inexpensive and has plenty of availability, I would give the campground a try.
