“Crazy slow potable water”
Reviewed 10/2/2022
Was very slow last year also... sign says .25 for 12 gallons...wrong .25 for about 4 gallons. The sign also says 1 quarter at a time. It is 1 quarter PER cycle.
Dump station was free & nice. Huge recycling area, none of the dumpsters labeled for trash.

No one here super easy fill up, 25 cents is definitely more like 3 gallons not 13 but still cheaper then most! Dump station is clean and has a nice hose to rinse

For RV's, there is a smaller water spout on the side of the building. This station has a lot of room for wide turns.

The freshwater pump runs on quarters, so you need to have those handy. It cost us $0.75 to fill up, which was awesome. We paid a campground $5 the other day, so this was a whole lot cheaper.
However, there isn’t a place to throw trash away - only recycling. As regular boondockers, we don’t have easy access to a place to throw a large trash bag away, so I was really hoping to be able to do it there. I’d happily pay a $1 a bag or whatever as a disposal fee if they’d like. As an RVer, it would be a huge help.
Otherwise, well worth it, and we’ll be stopping there again whenever we’re in the neighborhood.

The dump is open seasonally May 1st to November 15th each year. We were there late April and called ahead and found out they were open. Call first before you go. The number is 970-565-7320. Very easy to find the station, they have signs with arrows but it is all the way in the back of the industrial park. The dump is completely free. The water station is near the dump, but is not free. There is a quarter machine on the wall near a small spigot for the water. I asked the receptionist the cost of the water and she said it was $.25 for 15 gallons. We spent $1 and got maybe around 50 gallons or so (definitely not 60 gallons). Our 43-gallon tank had some water in it and we filled two 6-gallon water jugs as well. We found out later that the tank was not quite full like we thought so that's why we figure we may have gotten around 50 gallons or less. I wonder if it isn't more like $.25 for 12 gallons. Either way it was convenient and very cheap so we were happy. Great idea for cities to provide this service!

Be aware that, according to the city's website, dump station is open only from May 1-November 15, weather permitting. A number is provided to check on status. A great service if open, but deducted a star for long seasonal closure.

This is the Cortez City Municipal area. A full recycling center with a free dump station and potable water. People were coming in and out with separated recyclables while I dumped my tanks. You can throw away your trash, dump your tanks, fill your water and all is without charge. The place is clean and safe. Really impressed.
