“Beautiful setting but a fair number of cars”

Reviewed Aug 27, 2017

Overall Rating

This is a great boondocking spot close to Sun Valley/Ketchum, however it seems to be a popular area with mountain bikers so a lot of cars were driving on the road every day to drop off and pick up bikers at the end of the road. In addition, there were a fair number of flies when we were there (August 2017), so for both of these reasons I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

We stayed in spot 11 that had plenty of room for 2 or even 3 rigs if you were traveling with people that you knew and wanted to be together. The spot is quite wide and we parked a bit closer to the road in order to get full sun for our solar panels.

We saw a lot of elk and mule deer droppings (some quite fresh!) but sadly we didn't see any of the animals themselves.

No cell service (Verizon) on this road when you get away from Trail Creek Road, so if that matters to you this spot might not be ideal for you.

Note: 3 day camping limit along this road.

“Great spot, so close to town and great hiking”

Reviewed Jun 27, 2017

Overall Rating

We were looking for place to stay that would be convenient to town and hiking. We're self contained and don't use facilities. We stated on weeknights in late June in our 25 foot MH.

Corral Creek Road (FS-137) was great. There are 13 sites spread out along the ~4 mile road. Some are full sun, others full shade, and a few with a mix. The sites are different sizes, different distance from the road or Corral Creek. Sites 4 and 5 could get muddy in the rain. Sites 1 and 2 have 1 bar 4G ATT coverage, 2 bar LTE with a hot spot and antenna, while others had no ATT service. We stayed at site 2 for cell coverage. It's a bit close to the road (low traffic) and has gorgeous views. Some sites have 3 day limits, others are longer. Watch for signs.

Ketchum is 5 miles away and easily accessible on a bike path. There are short hikes between Uncle John's Gulch and Boundary CG. There are longer hikes to Pioneer Cabin Trails from the end of Corral Creek Road. Water and dump are available in Hailey.
