“Aggressive flies, no sun, no cell coverage”

I have three main requirements for a camping site: sun for solar, cell coverage, and manageable insects. This site failed on all three. I don't need a ton of sunlight, just an clear opening for a couple of hours, but like so many places on the Olympic peninsula it was not available here. No T-Mobile service, even boosted, and Verizon hit one bar off and on, but mostly off. Finally, the flies were as aggressive as I've ever encountered. Yes, being in a rain forest by a stream it should be expected, but I don't have to like it. If they land on you and you don't immediately shoo them off you'll get bitten. Now, if you're not averse to bug spray and don't need solar or cell reception, it's a perfectly lovely spot. But that ain't me.
The gravel road to the campsite is fine as far as gravel roads go, but the 15ish miles on Hoh Mainline Road is another story. I'm not normally one to complain about speed limits that are too high, but this road is so laden with unexpected hazards that the speed limit should be at least 10 mph lower. Dips and peaks, crevasses, potholes, tight turns with no >>> indicators, and one area where the pavement suddenly disappears only to be replaced with a mound of dirt and gravel. This road is the perfect course to let you know what in your RV is not properly secured. Take it slow, and if you see something ahead that looks bad, it is.
