Camp only in designated dispersed campsites and in developed campgrounds within Prescott Basin around the city of Prescott. See map for details: https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprd3797787.pdf. Dispersed camping is allowed outside of Prescott Basin.

Stay limit is 14 days in a 30-day period in Prescott National Forest, except Prescott Basin which is limited to 7 days in designated dispersed campsites only.

Campfires allowed in provided fire rings only. During fire restrictions, campfires are not allowed in these designated dispersed camp sites.

Overall Rating

This site lies just across the Natl Forest boundary on Gold Basin Rd minutes from downtown Prescott. Very convenient, but the site is not very good and the dust dirt road is very busy. Everything quickly was covered in a layer of dust from the traffic (locals accessing popular trailheads). The space was not level (not even close) and required some jockeying to get set-up.

That said, it was easy to explore the Prescott area and run some errands. More than a few locals told us to post up in a few different areas next time for a better experience.

Overall Rating

Easy access, light washboarding. 2 spots located before trailhead, could handle a few rigs each. We Didnt go past the trailhead, but you can see from the satellite image that there a quite a few spots past the trailhead.
No views. Peaceful breeze. Someone driving by every half hour on a friday afternoon.

Some trash, lots of bullet casings. Lots of firewood available.
