We stayed at Dispersed camping area 5747 from June 30 - July 13, 2021. The area we camped at was just past Morton Road on West Forest Trail Road going west toward the Lake Michigan Recreation(LMR) area. This is a paved road that gets very bumpy occasionally, so, take it slow. It is about a mile from the LMR. Had we known what we known now, we would have gone all the way to LMR and looped around to come into our area from there. I would have made for a much easier entry.
The setting was serene to put it mildly. We dealt with one day of torrential downpours, but, the majority of the time the weather was phenomenal! Trees, wind and, birds. There are deer that walk through some times and we saw a porcupine and her baby on the drive to LMR one evening. The campsite we were in had a fairly large sandy area to turn around in and back into our site. With careful planning you could fit three, maybe four more campers here. There was another area near ours that could have easily fit three other campers in it as well.
Make the trip to LMR to take in a sunset. You will not be disappointed.
Don’t expect to have good cell signals. Terrible would be an understatement. Of course, we were not here to stay connected. Our Mifi and hotspot did pretty well getting us the connectivity that we needed. Sending and receiving calls worked pretty well.
Hank would stay here again

We were so happy to find this site open since we are in a 40’ Super C and need a pretty spacious spot. We just left there so early in the season there were plenty of spots available, though not all suitable for larger rigs. The roads getting to this spot were about as perfect as they could be. Forest Trail Rd is paved and goes all the way to the Lake Michigan Recreation Area where there hiking trails and a parking lot for day use, as well as a campground. But why would anyone want to stay in a campground when there are sites like this a few miles down the road?! People should be aware of the fact that, while this is called and I think known to locals as Cooper Rd., the actual road is called Morton Rd. The largest spot is about a 1/2 mile down the road once you turn left off Forest Trail. A few locals drive down the road during the day but overall it’s super quiet. We found potable water and a dump ($5) at the Marathon Station at the corner of Hwy 31 and Forest Trail. They also have a large dumpster but there were also a few dumpsters that seemed open and available by the campgrounds by the Recreation Area. Very easy for packing in, packing out!
AT&T data was 3.5mb and allowed us to stream whatever we wanted but was a little slow at times. We do use a booster which did help a lot at this site. Verizon was very weak, 1 bar, calls were hard to make while there.

BEAUTIFUL area. Typed in Cooper Creek Rd, navigation and the other review led us here but the signs say Morton Rd. Lots of very nice available spots to camp up and down the road. From what I saw, all spots have a turn around for campers. Deer everywhere. Manistee about 15 minutes north, Ludington 15 miles south. Little River Casino about 30 minutes north, easy to find. No water, bathroom or fire ring but hey, it's FREE. Dogs loved it. I was here peak fall color. About 10 vehicles go by per day, some of them repeats. Lots of trails to explore. Not far from Green Rd which is another great place to camp.

Real boon docking. No services and campsites aren’t designated. Just find a flat level pull off and camp.
