An easy drive down a dirt road with a few water crossings. No 4x4 needed but some ruts that higher clearance helped. The road up to the campground was pretty rutted but not to bad. In fact, there was a pickup that pulled a trailer up there. The campsites were separated but only two of them had picnic tables. There were conflicting signs about campfires. A sign at the entrance to the forest said they were okay with permit but a sign at the campground said no. The fire pits had pink ribbon on them as well. Very quiet nights. A nice weekend for us in the forest. There are gates across the road about 1/2 mile down the road from the campground where the trailhead to Alejandro Campground set out. A great 7 mile round trip into the campground and back out. It’s a bit moderate with hill climbs and some scree on the trail. Very enjoyable. Easy trail on the down the gated road if you don’t want the hills. No water or toilets are available at the campground.
