Collins Park

We tried this park on a mid-August weekend. To our, and the park guide's surprise, we got the last opening. She assured us the campground was normally quite empty. We came back during the week and found only 2 other campers. Must have been a late summer frenzy.

The park is small, but pretty. Located on a lake, there is a swimming beach, playground, and boat landing. It is a very quiet lake, so canoes and kayaks would be great. With only 25 acres, there wasn't much else to explore.

The campground has 28 or so sites, all with electricity. Most campers came in in RV's. The sites were good sized, but didn't have much privacy. Each had a picnic table and fire ring. There is a bathroom with flush toilets, water and showers. They were all newer and very clean. The campground also has a dump station.

Overall, it was nice during the week when it is quiet, not as much fun when it fills. The only truly annoying thing I found was that there are streetlights in the campground, so it is well lit at night. Good for security, but not my idea of being outdoors.
