This campground is about 5 miles from highway 101 that runs along Hood Canal on Duckabush Road (NF 2510). The road is paved until the last 1.5 miles where it becomes a 2 lane gravel road with quite a few potholes. It was a surprisingly busy road due to nearby trailheads, we are guessing. (At the point where the pavement ends is the Ranger Hole Trailhead, further up the road is the Duckabush Trailhead and up further is the Murhut Falls Trailhead, all of which we recommend.)
The campground has 15 first come first served sites along a one way road. It's an older FS campground with picnic tables, fire pit and two smelly outhouses. It is mostly geared to tenters, vans or truck campers, although several sites could accommodate longer rigs. We left our RV at home and decided to tent it. Towards the end of the one way road, near campsite 14, there are some low limbs for high clearance rigs. Most sites are somewhat of a walk in situation, a short walk though. Most sites have a water view and river access. The river is beautiful and can be heard from your campsite. Sites are pretty private, we loved our site 14. The campground became more than half full each night midweek. Several people tried fly fishing, us included.
We think it is a bit overpriced for what you get, unless you have a senior pass, then $7 seems more reasonable.
There are 2 optional places to camp if the campground is full/closed. Just past the exit of the campground, which is before the entrance, there is a long back in/pull in site. There is a rock fire ring and we saw people camped there. A mile up the road is the Duckabush Stock Trailhead parking area. There were no signs saying you could not camp there. A great Plan B location.

I almost hate to add this to the list as it’s such a nice experience to finally find a campground that’s not overrun. Most sites with access to the river, the nearby dirt road with barely any traffic. Campground will close for the season on Sept 28.
