Overall Rating
We were camping in the area and checked out lots of campgrounds.
Perhaps since this campground was open in March (there are patches of snow and standing water in the area) is the reason the campground road was all chewed up. Since it is free it probably does not get a lot of attention by the Forest Service. We did find a couple of spots that would work with our big rig. Sites were not all that pretty or level.
There is an information board that talks about the big fire that went through the area.

Overall Rating
This site offers great views of the surrounding valley. Offers vaulted toilets, each site has at least 1 picnic table, fire ring and grill. It sits a a higher altitude (just a hair over 7,600 feet) so pepone stoves aren’t as efficient. Has some really large sites to accommodate large groups and RV’s. I went up in mid March so it got real cold at night (23 F). The only knock is that it is close to the highway so you are able to hear passing traffic
