We stayed here in our way farther south. It’s a 20-minute drive from town. Roomy, spaced out sites. Not much to do there but a great stop over at a great price. Facilites clean and well kept!

Make reservations. Friday morning only had one small site still available but there were about 6 no shows leaving sites empty. Tight campground spots and roads. Suggest big rigs arrive during the day. When making reservations, pay attention to the site size unless you are a van camper. We did not use showers/bathrooms so for $27 w/tax per night this campground is a solid 4 stars.

Nice campground overlooking the lake. The bathrooms are not heated so it can be cold for taking showers in the winter and the hot water does not last long, so be quick. The Rooster is beautiful but sometimes he likes to crow in the middle of the night and very early.
We really enjoyed hiking the Fort Braden Trails. If you don't want to drive to the trail head, there is access to the trails by walking up the road .7 miles from the campground. Then on the opposite side of the road from the campground, you can enter by the 4 wooden posts, they are just beyond the 30mph speed limit sign for cars heading toward the campground. There is a second access point .17 miles further by a metal gate. See pictures. There is a $2 daily use fee for the trails payable online.

Small (20+ spots) but only half-full on the weekend. Excellent Verizon and ATT signal, ok T-Mobile. Quiet, nicely set up sites. Boat launch and lots of local fishing boats during the day. Dead quiet at night despite being close to Tallahassee and the airport. And yes, there is a rooster!

We just stayed the night on the way to the Everglades, so we didn’t hang around to enjoy the lake but there were a lot of folks fishing and it was a great to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning while the lake woke up.

Wonderful place, Easy hookups and walk to bathhouse. As a matter of fact, I made a reservation for one spot and got a call back from Rick the caretaker who told me he moved me to a better spot. Wonderful watching the sunrise and set over the lake. Very quiet.

Great place for the night , bathrooms were good, the maintenance person comes around at night with a mosquito spray which is amazing and the sites are the perfect size and water is very calming and pretty.

You will have trees blocking a wide view of the lake, but #13 has a bit of an opening to see out onto the water. Our camper has no amenities beyond an A/C, so we appreciated the clean bathrooms with hot showers. No ventilation (typical) so bring your portable fan if you make use of the showers. During our Labor Day stay, it was very quiet and campers all respectful of each other. We used this campground as a base to explore Tallahassee area including St Marks National Wildlife Refuge, which I highly recommend visiting.

Being on the water, the insects were a bit of a nuisance so we didn’t spend much time outside. This campground is a nice stop on your way through the area or if you want to check out Tallahassee. The campground itself may be a challenge for larger rigs to get around.
The bathrooms were in clean condition and the shower had hot water.
