Being only 10 min from the heart of Bend is what makes this campsite so great. It's also only a mile from being at the Deschutes River. I will agree the road in is rough. I will agree the road in is rough. The front campsites would be ideal, but I think those rigs have been there for months and don't move. Its a long loop around but being in a 30' fifth wheel I wouldn't go further than a half mile to the right or left of the entrance. There is more campsites to the right, but those seemed to all be taken before the road got too rough. We went to the left and went thru the sand pit just fine in our f350.
The worst part about the place is how sandy it is. Probably the worst, but I do think the location is worth it. The sites are fairly level. I didn't hear any road noise at night even tho its right off a major highway. Campsites are great for those needing solar power.
If you need to dump or refill with water, I recommend the nearby Shell that comes up on Campendium. Easy enough to get around the back of the building for big rigs and its $6 cash.
Check out Lava island trailhead for a walk along the Deschutes River and Bangers & Brew for a great happy hour that is dog friendly!

The dirt/dust is my only complaint. But the access to an awesome bike trail right out front, being 10 minutes from Bend, good mix of shade and sun, and good cell service make up for it! We parked near the front to stay close to the main road. There was road noise but nothing that couldn’t be blocked out with a fan or noise machine. So glad we stayed here because I fell in love with Bend, which has several kid-friendly parks and hiking trails to access the Deschutes River. We stayed away from the busier, popular spots to float the river but would love to come back after COVID. We dumped and refilled on water every few days at a Shell gas station (noted as a dump station on Campendium). We also met several other friendly campers during our stay.

Other than being close to Bend, I don't see why this gets a 5 star rating. A lot of homeless that the forest service needs to deal with, leaving few sites for recreation. Straggly pine forest, not real pretty, fair amount of dirt bikes. On the good side it's easy to level for a forest. If you go to the right as you come in it appears you can drive quite a ways and find more sites but there is road noise throughout. Very little traffic noise at night at least. Trash not too bad considering how close it is to Bend and the homeless, and the dirt road is ok.

The campsite we found had a recent campfire in it and was a pretty leveled spot (did not have to use leveling blocks!) as we set up a gentleman not to far introduced himself to us! He said try to stay toward the front of the site cause the back of the site attracts weirdos! Overall amazing experience

This place had a variation of campers from tent, 5th wheel and even two A-Class motor homes. It is along different kind of bicycle trails, the one in the front is very nice paved. All people here seamed nice and I felt safe camping here. On a small walk crossed a Coyote my way, so small pet owners should watch out for their pets.
