Cloverdale-Healdsburg KOA

Used To Come Here Because It Was So Far From The Freeway And Quiet. The Owner Was Not The Least Bit Interested In Accommodating Our Request To Choose Our Own Campsite
-Since It Was Not Very Busy/ And To Please Put Us Away From Dogs Because I Have A Cat! Told Us To Take The One That She Put Us In Had A Great View,Which Was The Side Of a Fifth Wheel. And the dog pooping area in front.
But the most upsetting issue was that all these beautiful oak trees are completely infested therefore, constantly drip a substance called honeydew. A sticky substance stick gets all over everything your shoes, your trailer hoses, the bottom of your pets, feed your vehicles. No one has taken care of these trees and that’s a shame because it can be rectified with camps for 50 years and have never had this substance all over our vehicles. It will have to be steam cleaned and the trailer as well because ants are very attracted to the sticky substance called honeydew could not his picnic table for the same reason I don’t know which is worse the lack of care, and I’ll run down the places become or the fact that someone’s ignoring the care of these beautiful oak trees. Clearly won’t be staying here again especially since they tack on the name Healdsburg so they can jack up the price 20 bucks. Ridiculous.

This is one of the worst KOA I have ever been to. Inconveniently located. Long winding road to KOA, terrible map for roads inside the campsite. All road are single lane one way road. I followed the direction and ran into a car parked right in the middle of the road. Had to make a u-turn in a very narrow spot. The laundry room is old and dirty. The front desk person is very defensive, instead of being helpful. I saw similar complaints from recent visitors. Last but not least, their published price in KOA app does include TAX.

Facilities seemed a bit dated, but worked well and had no issues using the showers. The spot we were in was pretty tight and angled around a tree. Had someone been in the spot next to me it would have been really tight. Not sure if they intentionally did this, or it wasn’t reserved.

Didn’t use the pool/hot tub or most amenities, but don’t have a reason to knock them for anything in that regard. A bit off the path to cloverdale, but not too bad to jet in for supplies or to grab a bite.

Overall, we really enjoyed staying at this campground. The staff was very friendly, the views from the porch were amazing, it’s a good location for enjoying Cloverdale, Healdsburg, and Santa Rosa. Walking around the campground, some sites were very nice. Some sites were extremely narrow. We felt the facilities needed attention - they were not as clean as we are used to at most RV parks and KOAs we have stayed in. The laundry facility had several broken machines and the app used to pay for the machines was confusing and we lost money using it. We would stay here again, but would request one of the nicer sites.

I stayed last 2 nights. Host John was polite and pleasant. I was in site 17. Nothing to really see and spots in my opinion are quite close together. This site would be good for 2 families. It’s a good ways off hwy 101. Like maybe 20 minutes. My site had power and water which I wasn’t expecting. Site cost I thought was high but we are on CA and in wine country plus with hook ups I guess it was at par.

When I pay more for a Koa, I’m expecting WiFi, cable, level spot, etc. this was not that. Advertised WiFi, but none. At least I had decent cell. No cable. Site was not level. We normally dry camp, so I don’t have an issue with any of that except that this is a KOA and said they had it. Additionally, I reserved a pull through and there was no way my TT was going in this spot without 8” of leveling. AND, the site had the door facing the road and the amenities on the other side.

That said, this is in a good location for wine country. The road up is difficult and has a one lane bridge section, steep hills and twisty road. Would stay again because of location, but don’t expect a great KOA.
