We have two small dogs. Are they allowed in the campground? On the trails?

We called on a Monday to see if they had availability for the night. The reservation process couldn't have been easier and the phone attendant couldn't have been nicer. A very reasonable $40 for the night for a water/electric site. There are many sites here that appear to be level, unfortunately, ours had a bit of a slope and we couldn't get 100% level but it was manageable. The park is incredibly clean and well laid out with plenty of space between sites. The bathrooms were very clean and, while we didn't use them, from what we could see the showers were clean. We're here to visit the Harley Davidson museum and would definitely stay at this park again.

Excellent place to stay! Beautiful grounds, spacious spots. Will definitely return in the future. Be sure to check out the Lighthouse in Racine when you’re here. Also visit the Spy House restaurant in Milwaukee.

This is a very nice county park with water and electric hookups. Nice playgrounds for the kids too. If you are in the area, go to Zoo beach or North beach. Amazing views, clean sand, overall great.

This campground is GREAT. The sites are big, the campground is clean, well maintained and so are the bathrooms and showers. We had water and electric. The playgrounds look nice (I don’t have small kids). Wood is available for purchase. Nice paved roads. No complaints about this campground at all.

Trails that lead back to awesome views of Lake Michigan. Down the road is a gun range if you hear gunshots. Also a farm with roosters on the side of park with higher campsite numbers.
There is a $12 reservation fee on top of the cost for nightly stay. Email with maps and instructions were sent prior to arrival upon making online reservation.
Grounds were kept well, highly recommend.

We especially loved the handy bike trail you can catch off 6 Mile road near the train tracks just outside of the park. It follows the train track and is well maintained with lovely wildflowers etc along the path. We road it to the Michigan Lake Bike trail which goes through the fun and charming lakeside town of Racine. Lots of good places to grab a bite, shop etc in Racine and enjoy the lake view.
We also did most of the trails right in the park we are at. There are several trailheads. We used the one near group campsite #1. If you go a ways on the mowed trail and then meander onto one of the woodsy paths to the right you get some cool relief along trails that cruz with a creek below and then open up to high cliffs with great views of the lake.
We booked this campground to visit family in Milwaukee and found it to be a joy for a base and easy to get into the city from.

Stayed here during the first full week they were open for the 2021 season. Beautiful and spacious sites. Perimeter sites are a little bigger than interior ones. Have another weekend booked here at end of July. Definitely recommend exploring the trails (there’s a little path right past site 4 that connects to a parking area in the park and if you head straight back, there are trails that will eventually lead to the cliff.) Amazing views and definitely worth the hike. Also, if you’re traveling with a dog, highly recommend the Caledonia dog park (aka Johnson dog park) It’s an off leash park about a 7 minute drive from the campground (no entrance fee or pass required). Acres of land with a river running through it. Our dog had a blast!

This worked very well for the things we wanted to do in Milwaukee and Racine, but there isn't much to do without driving. While there are nice beach views, it's very difficult to get to Lake Michigan from the campground. A 10 minute drive brings you to a crowded but nice beach in Racine. Was concerned about other posts about the camp hosts, but we didn't encounter any problems and followed all rules, both posted and learned by talking to other campers.
