Claybanks Township Park

Almost missed this campground, but when I turned around the sign was very visible. Mainly RV camping here but I did set up my tent. Lots (I mean LOTS) of children here so probably a great place to bring kiddos in to make friends. The noise levels were pretty manageable too, the kids were all in bed by 1030 and the adults in bed by midnight. There is access to the beach and to a deck. The beach is short area, and depending on the tide you can hang there or in the grasses. There is quite a bit of poison ivy there, but signs are abound. As long as you don't go running off the trail (to the beach) into the woods you should be fine. The toilets are just simple drop toilets and I did see some porta potties down the road. Lots of water spouts everywhere. Super easy reservation online, they had at least 3 or 4 other sites open as well. This campground was also really close to the Silver Lake Dunes and about an hour or less drive from Grand Rapids, so all in all great location too.

This is a nice little park right on Lake Michigan, which was the reason I stayed there. That was my favourite part. There don’t appear to be any noise policies in place, so be warned if you’re there on the weekend. There also weren’t any showers, just toilets in what appeared to be modern outhouses. (I had one in my rig so I didn’t check.) There is an overlook as well as two different paths down to the beach.
I would stay again, but during the week. The sites are roomy, and mine was shady and level. Alcohol is prohibited.
