Clark County Shooting Complex

The office folk won’t take a phone registration but require you to do that online…that’s typically fine but their website was built by, you guessed it, government tech folk so it was difficult to get that done on my iPhone but finally got it done.

It’s a shooting range so if you like the sound of gunshots, this will work just fine for you.

It’s a big flat parking lot with no shade, which matters in summer here.

The good news is the price. $30 a night is a great price for Las Vegas.

As other reviewers said, this “campground” is just a long gravel lot, and you’re close to all your neighbors. But we appreciated having affordable ($30/night) full hook ups, and the view is beautiful. The complex is very well maintained. We were definitely the smallest rig there.

We had to register for a Clark County account before we could book our campsite. The registration was approved within a few hours. The campground has 80 sites, although it looked like only the first 65 were available to book online.

Not as much gunfire as you would imagine, although I think we might have been there on a few days when the range was closed. There’s also plenty of road, with cyclists and runners in and out of the park all the time. One of the staff members did warn us about coyotes while we were walking our dog at dusk, so just be aware of your surroundings.

Our favorite stop while we were in Las Vegas was Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Great scenic drive, plenty of dog-friendly hikes, and we also did some off-reading. For the night we spent in town, it took us about 30-40 minutes to drive to the Strip, and there was plenty of garage parking available, even for our tall F-150. If we return to Las Vegas, we’ll definitely check availability at this campground, although our first choice was Red Rock Canyon NCA.

You have to make an account on the county website, that takes 1 day give or take, before you can book a site. FYI just call if you are going to be arriving before that, the front office was great when I did.

80 spotless pull through gravel spots, my site was 1/4 inch left to right level. Bit sloped but nothing drastic, just had to move my jack leg up a few notches. Nice and wide, power/water/sewer pedestal hookups were great.

Safe secure spot on the edge of town. May be a bit further from the strip or downtown than some places. But for $210 a week that's $100 or more cheaper per week. I've stayed on Boulder Highway and Main Street. Both had nothing but problems. One night 4 campers had their tires slashed at Arizona Charlies, and tons of homeless wandering Main Street.

No showers or bathrooms.

I noticed one of the older reviews mentioned a problem with a site reserved on the reservation system and we had one. We booked a site and arrived to find someone already camping in it. No problems though. The office staff simply gave us another. We did see a ranger knocking on the door of the camper in our original site while we were setting up in our new site. Seems the glitch was the camper but I was glad we arrived at 2pm during office hours.

Other then that, an absolute great deal for a site in Las Vegas with all the services and a great view. We'll be back!

I needed a week out of another CG. I called all around Boulder Hwy and no one would take reservations. They all said call us on the morning and if we have a spot we'll let you come in. Really? Sorry, not my style of traveling. CCSC had reservations and good reviews so I stayed a week. To book a reservation you need to request an account on the website. That takes a day. I then booked my stay. Easy to make the reservation. I called the morning of arrival to obtain the code. You need to the code to enter off hours and the days the shooting complex is closed. The sites are basically all the same. Nice and long and pretty wide. They have a little slope and are gravel but no problem to level with my class a motorhome. No trees so no problem for satellite tv. Nice views of the snow covered mountains and the strip. There are nights where there was target shooting going on and that meant the spot lights were on. If you like to watch the stars this would not be a good place. No shower or rest rooms by the CG. They do have a couple porta potties if that's your liking. New pedestals and plenty of water pressure. The price is not taxed so that is also a plus as tax in Vegas is pretty high. Def felt safe here. One down side were the number of plastic remnants of some sort of shells. I picked up probably 50 just on the patio side of my site. Internet was good. Band locking on Verizon yielded some even better results (over 100MBPS DL).

Reservations made online (although not all sites actually show up on the website). You do need to create an account with the county before you can make reservations online (that took about 24 hours). There are 80 full hook up sites. Roads are paved, but sites are gravel. Easy to level and plenty of room at the site. There are 3 sections of campsites with a small road between the sections. That means there are 6 end sites (3 with open space on your campside and 3 with space on your non campside). I’ll include a photo in the review with the latest numbering. The campsites are designed to pull in facing north (that means the Las Vegas Valley is south behind you). We were fortunate enough that our neighbor was pulled forward a bit in their site and we could be a little further back to still provide us with a great view out our window. Over the air TV reception was decent. Verizon cell signal was OK, a bit slow at times. The noise from the shooting range wasn’t very loud when inside the RV. I imagine it could be worse if the range was really busy. Easy access to shopping and casinos. Would definitely stay here again.

Clark County Shooting Range is as simple as RV camping comes, and not only have I recommended it to others, we’ve already booked another stay. Yes, it’s a shooting range and there is noise, but it’s surprisingly quiet otherwise. At the time of our first booking it was $25 a night for FHU, and unfortunately, as of 3/20 they have raised their rates 20% to $30. That said, this CG worked out well for us, and we’d camp here again
To book a site, I contacted Clark County to set up an online account and then did the rest myself through their website. Everyone that we dealt with at Clark County was very nice and helpful (I even needed extra assistance on both my reservations, and received prompt help), and according to their policies, you can camp here for 29 nights before having to leave for 2.
Pros:
-All sites are very long and relatively wide, easy pull through and will fit any rig plus tow vehicles. Sites are gravel and level with a paved drive around the whole area
-Utilities are easy to access and worked perfectly (the sewer is deep set in some of the sites making it hard to screw in firmly, so an extender may be needed for a tight fit)
-It’s very safe and clean- patrolled often and campers are given a gate code for evenings out
-Easy drive for groceries, gas, and many other amenities
-We heard very little noise from other campers and the distance from Vegas provides a beautiful view of the night lights and sky
-While I’m not at all experienced in shooting ranges, I understand from talking to others, that this is a very nice facility for enjoying that hobby or trying it out for the first time
-Verizon worked great, no booster needed, and we got about 100 TV stations over the antennae
Pros/Cons:
-This spot is off the strip in north Vegas. It takes about 25-35 minutes to get anywhere downtown or to Red Rock, and an Uber/Lyft is $25-35. This worked out perfectly for us, and we liked being a little away from it, while still being in reach
Cons:
-It’s definitely just a big parking lot. There are no trees, bushes, or really any privacy. As I said, in our experience other campers are quiet, but everyone is parked in a long angled row
-There are no campground type amenities…. no showers, bathrooms, laundry, playgrounds, WiFi, etc
-Along with the above, there isn’t a great place to walk a dog… I usually walked the edges of the RV lot or even the surrounding roads, which are low on traffic. While this worked fine for us, there is no dog park or even any grass, so your dog will be on gravel or pavement
-They don’t accept packages, but there are options for Amazon lockers and mail services around town
-Obviously, there is shooting, and it can get busy on a nice weekend
-$25 seemed about right for this park, and with the price hike, $30 makes it expensive

We highly discourage you from staying at this facility. First, the staff is rude. This is based on one actual stay, and another attempt almost a year later to try again.

During our first stay we were moved from our reserved site without explanation into what looked to be full-timers running a junk yard in their spot. Over the course of two days the issues compounded, to where after the second night (of 7 reserved) I decided to leave.

I spoke to the Public Relations manager the morning I was leaving and received a full refund for nights stayed and additional nights that I had reserved. The issue had escalated to a point that it was simply unacceptable the way the staff had behaved.

I just attempted to make another reservation (now almost a year later) and that too has been a disaster. The web site if non-functional across multiple accounts. Ok - so I'll call. I did so and, again nothing but rude staff. I will never stay here again and I highly discourage others from doing so.

I'm giving this 1 star across the board as none of those attributes matter if I can't stay here and pay good money for a pleasant experience.

This place bills itself as a first class “bare bones” RV park. It’s basically a straight line parking lot, with no shade (but it’s in the desert!) and no picnic tables, but plenty of space and very well maintained hookups. It’s gated at night, and. Has an onsite restaurant. No wifi or cable, but we didn’t care. We spent most of our time sightseeing or visiting our family who live in Vegas. Red Rocks National Conservation area, Valley of Fire State Park, Lake Mead and all the wonders of the Las Vegas Strip are nearby, so there is LOTS to do. PLUS you get to watch skeet shooting pretty any time the park is open, and that was fun. The shooting was not loud or intrusive. This is a great value! (We camped here in our 30’ Airstream trailer.) You do have to register for the Clark County website and make your reservation there, and it had to be paid in advance, but the setting up of the website account was easy and the system worked well.
