“Secluded and peaceful”

Stayed here overnight en route to Sedona. About 5-10 miles on a well maintained dirt road. We were the only people there on a Tuesday night. Lots of sites, we chose the one farthest back and next to the river. Even got a visit from the friendly local horses. Clean pit toilets

“Perfect spot for a digital detox just an hour from Scottsdale, AZ”

Great little spot that I'd love to go back to again in the future. Semi-primitive. No electricity or water but it does have vault toilets and creek nearby to draw water from if you have a way to purify it. No cell service either. Each campsite has a concrete picnic table and fire ring with grate for cooking.
Camping is free but you must display a Tonto Pass on your rear view mirror since the campground is in Tonto National Forest. The pass is available at many convenient stores in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area.

Great hiking trail nearby (Cave Creek Trail #4).
Plenty of unmaintained roads to go off-roading on.
