It's not - it's hard pack. Great for big rigs like ours. Not for tents (you have to pitch over the fence).

Was there a few months ago. Google's Satellite View hasn't changed since I was there. It looks weird on google (greenish/blue coloring), but it's just a flat, rocky parking area.

I was there in June 2019 and it's just a big parking lot it looks like a pond but it's dry and not a bad spot at all. If you go up that same road there are spots off that main road.

We were there in February. Google maps looked the same then but whatever looked like a holding pond is now gone and it’s a huge open lot.

I think the google view was from years ago. it is a nicely packed lot with tons of room.

I was just there last week. Still a big open lot, great spot to stay near Carlsbad Caverns. Room for 30 big rigs
