Stayed here 1/26/19 to 2/2/19. The other reviewers have pretty much covered it. This location is essentially a giant gravel parking lot. I'm not sure how many rigs would fit here, but at times there were probably 15-20 and there was still room for more. Everyone I met here was extremely friendly and a few times some of them did a campfire and invited everyone. You can't beat the location, as it's right between Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains national parks. It did get very windy here at times, but that is to be expected this time of year. I had read all the reviews mentioning the pack rats, and came fully prepared with lights and everything, but no one else had their hoods open or lights setup. I ended up putting a string of lights under my rig, but that's it. I didn't have any issues at all the week I was here, but it's possible the rats just weren't out this time of year.
I think it's really great that this park exists and is maintained. Almost every day I saw someone come in and empty all four trash cans, so thank you to the people that make this campground possible!

If you’re looking for a spot to stay in order to hit both NP’s quickly, Chosa is a great choice. It was clean, trash cans available & felt safe. All the spots along the fence were taken, so we camped in the middle. We’d read there had been issues with mice (especially if you camp on the edge), but didn’t have issues. Most people were very friendly & walked around chatting at sunset. Heads up: 18 wheelers do drive up and down the road at odd hours, so the edge of the lot facing the road might not be for you if this is a concern.

This was our first experience with BLM and it was good. * It is a large hard packed dirt lot, probably the size of two adjacent football fields; * It has trash garage cans in all four corners; * big rig friendly, probably could fit 30+ rigs in here; * approximately quarter mile off of US 62/180 but I never noticed road noise ... more

* It is a large hard packed dirt lot, probably the size of two adjacent football fields;
* It has trash garage cans in all four corners;
* big rig friendly, probably could fit 30+ rigs in here;
* approximately quarter mile off of US 62/180 but I never noticed road noise at night;
* We used this site because it was between two National parks, Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe National Park;
* Carlsbad is approximately 30 miles away with plenty of restaurants and markets;
* no over the air TV channels available;
* can be breezy in the afternoons.

It’s closer to the caverns than Guadalupe NP but not a bad drive. This is a parking lot with garage cans. It’s quite and away from the main road. Expect high winds in this entire area, especially guadalupe man. It was good to us for a few days.

There are garbage cans there but if they are full please don't leave a garbage bag on the ground outside of the containers. Someone did that and the scavengers made a huge mess of it. My wife helped the park service person clean it up.

This place is literally 15 minutes from the Caverns. FYI THe caverns offer kennel boarding for the day for $10

It's a large space with plenty of area for many campers of all shapes and sizes. Close to White's City - laundry facility there was clean and empty on a holiday weekend. Beware the desert rats - they can and will get into your vehicle and eat your wires. Recommend a light under your vehicle and leave the hood open.
Lots of friendly people and safe to leave your rig while you explore.
We would have stayed longer but bad weather was headed in.
There are trash cans but no amenities so bring what you need.

We stayed here for 4 nights. The first night we pulled in late and thought we’d just stay the night and scout a better spot in the morning. When the time came to do that we decided just to stay because the road in was easy peasy (compared to other BLM sites around) and relatively the same as far as privacy went (maybe this place was a little less private), though we didn’t go way back scouting alternatives.
Anyway, so glad we stayed as we had fun with all of our neighbours.
There’s road noise at night. The winds are pretty strong (everyone cleared out todaybecause there are supposed to be 70mph gusts tomorrow (my iPhone thought we were having a tornado the first night!!) In the hotter months this may bake you, but I doubt you’d get away from that in this area.
There’s a “grocery” store,
water, toilets and gifts and a
very good laundromat about
10 minutes away in White’s
City. It’s about 10 minutes
from Carlsbad Caverns and
25 from Guadelupe National
Park.
One of our neighbours has some major damage done to his truck by wild rats. The mechanic recommended he keep his hood open at night and keep a light under his engine (in the floor) and park away from the fence. So we were all doing that! We passed it on to a newcomer right before we left today. Hopefully, no one else has to experience it.

Good solar, quite despite close to 62/180. Would stay here again. Only con has nothing to do with site but another camper. Upon leaving noticed a camper threw empty beer cans out of there rv door instead of using the 4 garbage cans provided. Always someone willing to ruin free camping for everyone. Please pick up your trash people. No excuse especially when trash can is 4 feet from your rv door!
