This review should be taken with a grain of salt if you don’t need a cell signal for anything. My wife and I work remotely, and the signal isn’t bad when it is 100% sunny. That being said, this entire area is rendered to nearly no service when clouds roll in (even in the city of Carlsbad), and I’m guessing it is even worse in a thunderstorm or raining. Originally planned to stay here 2 weeks, but a few clouds came in today and we almost couldn’t work at all. Overall everyone spaced out well and the site is pretty level other than some larger rocks in piles, so if you don’t work remotely this is a great boondocking location. Just thought I would be honest about cell signal, as I didn’t see any warning about how unstable it can be if the weather is anything other than sunny, which will cost us in an unforeseen RV park stay to deal with it!

Gravel parking lot inside a pipe fence. Most tenters camp on the dirt outside the fence. We got a corner with a beautiful mountain view. Free campsites are the best! I liked that there was no sign on the highway there was a campground.

This large flat site (basically like a parking lot) was fairly crowded when we arrived, but we had no trouble squeezing in. The views are amazing and the location is convenient as it sits between Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains. There are no restrooms, so be aware of that. The place is super clean so I want to thank all our fellow travelers for being respectful of the land. You might hear a bit of road traffic and the RVs run their generators. Great spot for an overnight.

This was the perfect location to stay for visiting Guadalupe Mountains NP and Carlsbad Caverns NP. There was a large trash bin, plenty of room and it was fairly easy to find. Our solar panels were moved about 10 feet by the wind while we were gone one day!

Good cell service to support the two of us working on video calls all day, right nearby Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains. In Guadalupe Mountains NP, we did a fun hike up to the Devil's Hall, and another longer one to the Notch. Nice add-on to the canyon itself.

Best BLM campground. A large garbage bin is provided. Great walking for dogs. Campers were friendly - most only stayed overnit. Very safe place.
