As others have said this is a large gravel parking lot, I would not call this gravel it’s rocks but park anywhere you want, it can fit a lot of rigs & the views are amazing & free. It is VERY windy up here but who cares for free right. Not far from caverns woukd definitely stay again.

It is boondocking and there is no water, electric, or dump. Just 4 trash barrels. They were overflowing with trash, so we cleaned up and bagged most of the trash around the barrel near us. PLEASE keep this place tidy out of respect for others and the people who made it possible for us to enjoy a free spot to camp.
We loved the cost, and the proximity to the Carlsbad Caverns. We also found a pretty nice hike nearby on Alltrails.com called Yucca Trail, which took us up the mountain that you can see from the campsite. Carlsbad town is north roughly 24 miles with plenty of stores, and a nice craft brewery called Guadeloupe Mountain Brewery. The soft pretzel with beer cheese paired nicely with our selection of tasty beers.
We also found a free RV dump site in Carlsbad on Sanidumps.com. Here is the info:
Driving Directions: East Plaza Street; Hwy. 285 is also called Canal Street, which runs North/South, go East on Plaza and the RV dump is on the Left at the dirt pullout after the tracks, this is at the end of the dead end street, plenty of room to turn around.
If you need water, stop at the water dispenser near Pizza Inn, for .25/gallon.
This was a pretty nice spot and for the cost is a great value.

Approximately seven miles to Whites City which is where you enter the park for Carlsbad Caverns. Best shopping from here is about 20 miles away in Carlsbad. Walmart in Carlsbad is a nightmare. I think they need at least one more.
We did use our cell booster while there.

We stayed here in February and it was great. The weather was a bit windy for a couple days, but other than that warm weather. The lot is just off the highway on a relatively level dirt parking lot. The space is huge and you could easily fit many class A's with a significant space to spare. We had a maximum of 6 neighbors and a minimum of 2 during our 5 day stay. There are cows occasionally walking around to the east (due to a water trough), but they don't come close at all. It appeared when we were here they were getting ready to set up four 55 gallon drums for trash cans although they weren't set up yet. Google wanted to take us some weird route there, but as others have said don't follow it. Drive to mile marker 9 and immediately turn east. The way across the highway was a bit weird for us (we're from the city) so don't be afraid to cross a divided highway! Service was spotty but still able to load emails and connect phone calls on Sprint.

Convenient to day trip to Guatelupe Mountains And Carlsbad national parks. Level and suitable for big rigs. Some Lte Verizon service. It is just a big dirt parking lot but all the pluses negate its plain face. Far enough off road that we were not bothered by noise. Slept well. Lovely sunrise. Trash cans on site but full.

This whole area is well maintained and level so any size RV will fit. I had good cell coverage and right by the Carlsbad Caverns and a 15 min drive to Carlsbad which has Pizza, propane and Walmart. I was in heaven.

Great campground! We stayed here for 4 nights while venturing around Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. Camp area is fenced off from field although there are still free range cattle that may wander through! They do have trash pick up. We spoke with Tracy who worked for BLM, she mentioned they had just made this camping area in December. It was very clean and safe to leave your rig unattended. Any size rig will fit! Definitely recommend!

The correct way to enter Dillahunty Road (at GPS 32.0911332,-104.4357585) from National Parks Hwy (U.S. Hwy 62). Big Rig friendly. No problems with my 45’ Tag Axle Motorhome flat towing a Jeep Wrangler. It really just a nice, large dirt lot, but a convenient location to Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Guadalupe Mountains National Park. T-Mobile was good for us 3-4 bars, able to stream without boosting.
