“Great location on the Rio Grande river ”

Our rate reflects Passport America 50% off; weekly and monthly rates are available.

We chose this park due to its boat ramp on the Rio Grande so we could easily launch our kayaks (great paddle 2.5 miles one way to the dam or endless up river). This longtime campground is home to very nice "Winter Texans" with a mix of RVs and park models. Camp host Rob showed us what sites were available for our 6-night stay so we chose one where we had space. Our site was grass (had to level on one side) with a new concrete patio (no picnic tables provided). Mexico is right across the river but Border Patrol/Coast Guard launch at the park and patrol the river so we felt very safe (helicopter also flies around at various times of the day/evening).

Pros: Economical/clean laundry, heated pool/spa, pool tables/game room, activities throughout the week including a burger lunch and music jam, levee/bike trail nearby for riding, close to shopping and state park, birds in the morning, WiFi in clubhouse works well, large bright lights on levee provided security.

Cons: Train track on opposite side of levee with multiple road crossings so horns blow loudly (fortunately trains only 2 of the 6 days we stayed, but one at 1:30 AM), Verizon/Visible cell worked sporadically (best in early morning, late night, we didn't have a booster) and WiFi tower on our end of park was not working.
