Stayed on the island campground with views of the lake. Very quiet and peaceful.
50 amp power and water no sewer but there are 3 dump sites. Very clean bathrooms ALL over each campground.
Wi-Fi is fair at best. They have “big rig “ sites I’m 42’ long and fit in well

We enjoyed our time here, mostly because we were at the end of the island and had very quiet neighbors. The lake is beautiful and honestly, any site on the island i think would be a good spot. The spots closer to the Ranger Station, are just packed too tight for us. The lake level was a little low because of winter pool, but the lake was still beautiful and even more walkable. Our spot had descent wifi provided by the campground. The electric pole and water spigot were very new and worked as expected. The website said our spot was level, it is NOT but it wasn't too bad. The tongue of our trailer was only about 8 inches off the ground when we finally got it level. While i totally understand the check in time is 2, i've never been to a campground that wouldn't allow you in (within reason) if you got there a little early. That said, it did warn us not to get there early on the website. We got there 20 minutes early, trying to beat the rain and they made us wait til 2 to checkin. I do think it could be a better park if they updated the bathroom by the graveyard and made a few other improvements but i do think they're working on it. I did like having a park trash can beside each site. The picnic table was in nice shape as was the grill and the whole outdoor area at our site. We would definitely consider staying here again.

We found the bath house in another area of the campground. These have shower rooms, they are large, with hooks, and benches. The water was super hot. BUT, nothing is labeled and it is very hard to maneuver around this campground. This is why I changed my review from 2 stars to 4.
We camp in a little teardrop, so we need access to bathroom facilities. We booked a beautiful spot on the lake. The pictures were beautiful, but when we arrived we were met by a deputy (which in a way made me feel safe), but only added to the "weirdness". When we got to our spot, there was, what looked like, a homeless woman walking down the road with all her belongings. After a few minutes someone came in a car and picked her up (weirdness #2). The deal breaker for us, though, are the bathrooms. They are very old, paint peeling on the walls and floor, lots of rust on the floor joists, and overall dirty. We usually camp at state parks and are used to very clean bathrooms. We hike the Smokies a lot and are fine with vault toilets. I've used vault toilets nicer than these bathrooms. I would sorta understand if we had paid less than $15/night, but we paid $30/night.
If you have your own RV w/ a bathroom, then you won't mind camping here. We won't be back, though.

Lovely park. Mess of a campground. Site #133 is unusable it’s so unlevel. In the absence of anyone available to check with, we moved ourselves to #120, which looked like an unbooked ADA site (it was late already). Ugly, crowded CG (Buffalo Run?) but quiet enough. Nearest bath house an old fright. Checked for other vacancies for second prepaid night then went to office to see what was possible. The short version: inflexible bureaucracy that gave us full refund for second night but wouldn’t/couldn’t adjudicate how nonfunctional our site was, insisted site #120 was for popups only (at least four rangers saw us there and said nothing) so we couldn’t stay there, and wanted $15, or a +50% upcharge, to let us move to a useable site. Adios Chester. If you must stay here the farthest loop is the nicest. There appeared to be single shower rooms there, and some space and grass. Btw it’s over 45 minutes from Chattanooga. Plenty of OATV and working free WiFi where we were in #120 (the router was at our site).

Made new friends (Go Cops and Campers) great location, otters playing in river next to site, ducks and geese everywhere. Rangers were great and helpful. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS sun rises and evenings. Right on main channel of Tennessee River. Water and electric, no sewers but several dump stations. Halloween was great.

We were right next to the entrance station which we thought would be a drawback, but it was fine. Sites have picnic tables, fire pits and lantern stands. Ours was paved and had both gravel grass available. Very easy in and out for our 40 foot fifth wheel, although not all areas would be. A bit of airport noise. We didn’t use the bathrooms or other facilities so can’t comment on those. None of the sites have sewer, but there is a sewer dump in the park.

Chester Frost Park is pretty close to our home base, yet I have never been there. We have been to Harrison Bay State Park, which is just across the river. I have tried to make reservations at this park before... and became so aggravated at the reservation system that I quit. I did this multiple times. I can't even remember what exactly was so bad about it, but I think they have updated the system since that time. The reservation does resemble that of TN State Parks now. This park is actually a county park. It's our first experience at a county park.
This is a beautiful park that is right on the water. There are multiple water sites that are great. The campground is about 30 minutes from downtown Chattanooga, but is only minutes away from the many amenities of Hixson. There are many shopping centers and restaurants within minutes of your campsite.
Verizon signals are through the roof at 3-4 bars of 4gLTE. There is WiFi available as well. The speeds were decent but not as fast as our Cell signals.
There is a large beach area that looks like an awesome place to soak up some sunshine. Apparently in the summer months they actually have a floating water park in this area. Information on the Nooga Splash Park can be found here https://www.noogasplash.com
There are also a couple of nice playgrounds within the park that seem to be premium playgrounds when compared to other parks.
A few docks are located around the park where you can park your boats or do a little dock fishing. There are also a couple of boat ramps within the park.
On top of the other great perks of the park, I will mention that the price of the campsites are $22.50 per night. This is an absolute bargain.
As far as sites go... there are many wonderful and beautiful sites. I focus more on waterfront sites. The waterfront sites are the ones that I would personally focus on. A lot of the sites that aren't waterfront are extremely close to each other. However, a lot of the waterfront sites are pretty spacious. They are also with good orientation, meaning that the river is your "front yard", unlike a lot of waterfront sites that place the water behind your camper.
Some of the better sites are as follows. Overall my favorite site would be site 227, mainly because of the size of the lot. It's not perfect though. The parking pad is only slightly inclined but there is a pretty decent incline from the parking pad to the road. If your camper is over 25 ft or so, I would probably avoid this one, but otherwise it's my favorite.
My next picks for the better spots would be 25, 28, 23, 27 195, 38, 31, 29, 37, 2, 32, 24, 26, 3, 4, 5, 35, and 30. If you want to be pretty close to the bathroom and don't mind to not be on the water 39 is a pretty nice site, but there is a security light there that is as bright as the sun.
As far as places to avoid. I would avoid most of the non waterfront sites because they are all so close to each other. I would also avoid most sites on the Windy Hills and Wolf Creek areas because these are the most unlevel.

They are very tight, which isn’t unusual for a state park, but they are also so un-level as to make some sites essentially unusable. We had to put the hitch on the ground and the back end on 10-12 inches of shoring to get barely within the 3 degree range to run our fridge. Even then our front was so low that the stairs couldn’t drop all the way and blocked the door.
Some sites are considerably nicer, but without an opportunity to make a note of which sites are okay, I wouldn’t stay here again.

Really beautiful, with campsites laid out along the water. Also very busy, with campers milling about and enjoying the perks of camping well into the night on weekends. Weekdays are quieter.
All sites are water/electric only. There are two dump stations in the park - they get pretty busy on Sunday mornings.
This is a 'locals' park - with folks visiting several times a year from nearby. While campsites themselves have a stay limit (7/14/30 days), you are welcome to switch to a new site and continue staying. Cancellations here are a breeze, with nearly full refunds being provided if you cancel at least 24hours ahead.
The sites are close together for the most part. Getting into and out of sites can feel hectic - the roads in the campground of narrow and winding, and there are often low branches. But our big butt fit in without issue, and we saw some HUGE 5th wheels figure it out too.
Definitely recommend snagging a waterside spot if possible. We LOVED our site - it provided nearly full privacy on our entry side, and for whatever reason (possibly an overflow site?) no one stayed in the site to our right while we were there. Which was good, because it was VERY close to us, and we're not the most beautiful view.
The water was intentionally low when we stayed, making our site more of a 'dirt beach' side site than waterfront. We had planned to move to a pull-through that did not permit slides to come out after our stay in site 31, but after looking at the site, we realized it was too much of a squeeze for our 40x10 rig to pass the other rigs already parked in the pull-out.
Verizon cell service was good. Trails were non-existent, and the roads have no shoulder, so walking/running was a bit less enjoyable than typical. There is a disc golf course and tons of fishing. You'll likely be greeted early in the morning by the small motors of fishing boats blasting around the water.
