The campground is now called Chatham Lakes Campground; it was recently purchased and the new owner changed the name. It is a large campground with many sites centered around a number of small lakes. There is a large number of seasonal campers here. We stayed here for an overnight on our way south to our Florida winter camp. The camp officially closed on Oct 15 but, the camp host was kind enough to let us stay the night since the campground is not winterized yet.
The camp host was very kind and friendly. She even came over with her trimmers and cut back some of the brush and poison ivy in the campsite she placed us in. There were many open sites that were in much bette shape; not sure why she chose site 109 for us. The campground is easy to find using Google Maps. Garmin stubbornly retains the old Honey Do campground name, despite the best efforts of the new owner to get Garmin to update its database. The location is several miles from the interstate highway with paved roads in between.
The site was/is in poor shape. Another long term camper had moved out of the site and the camp staff had not cut back the leftover brush and weeds. There was poison ivy growing along the boundary between the gravel trailer pad and the concrete picnic table pad. The host trimmed back the worst of it.
The water in the bathhouse shower stalls and sinks has a distinct order of rotten eggs, or hydrogen sulfide. It is an unpleasant smell and needs to be addressed. The new owner and his crew are working on adding sites to the campground. Perhaps they should turn their attention to fixing their water problems first and cleaning up their existing sites so they are at least free of large weeds and poison ivy.
State Route 83 is adjacent to the park and road noise is noticeable most of the time.
I would stay here again in a pinch but, I would certainly look for another campground in the area first. The site quality and the smelly water were the biggest issues I had with the campground.
