Sites decently spaced, very clean. We were In D loop, 186, it was a distance from the restroom, but had full hook up. Level concrete pads, many pull thru and big rig friendly. Great bike trail and access to lake for boating, and small lake for kayaks and sup. Beautiful park. We camped at Chatfield State Park in a Travel Trailer.

The campground itself is nice, the sites are fairly large and bathrooms, if needed, are centrally located. Sites each have picnic tables. Given the terrain there are not a lot of trees, so shade is somewhat limited. Cell service is great -5G- we both worked using our mi-fi device with zero problems. Would come back to stay here in a heartbeat.

We stayed at Chatfield State Park while visiting a Denver friend in early January and we were all quite pleased. We had neighbors on both sides but they were far enough away that things were peaceful and quiet. We had an excellent view of the nearby mountains and we saw two coyotes running past our site one morning just after we woke up. The bathrooms were clean and the pay showers were ok (although there wasn't much water pressure). The girls also said they were able to plug in their hair dryers. Our t-mobile 5G phones got 5 bars.

Do NOT stay here. Me, a 5’2 100 pound female was literally stalked at my campsite for nearly 40 minutes by a ranger who then issued me after issues me a ticket for “behaviorally not IMMEDIATELY picking up dog poop,” yeah.. when I see a grown man parked in front of my rig staring at me.. I hide inside and grab my knives!

The park is beautiful with some great amenities including a paved walking trail, horseback riding, a RC airplane field, boating and paddling. The campgrounds overlook the lake, though only a few campsites actually have a water view. There are 5 loops in the campground, a Group Loop then the rest are labeled A-D. We were in the C loop which is electric only. Loops A and B have full hookups. The sites are almost all pull throughs with a concrete pad in the center which made getting in and out easy.
Each loop has 2-3 bathroom buildings, one of which also includes showers and laundry. We were lucky that our site was close to the larger bathroom with the laundry facilities. The showers are $.50 per three minutes and they only take quarters. There is a change machine in the bathroom. The laundry machines take quarters or you can use a pay app. $1.75 to wash, $1.50 to dry.
There are not a lot of trees so very little shade, but that worked for us with our solar panels. The location is right on the edge of Littleton so there is easy access to any shopping needs.
One thing to be aware of is that you will have to pay a $9 per day access fee for the park ON TOP of your camping fee which can add up quickly. I chose to buy a one year State Park pass for $40 more because we plan on coming though Colorado again.

Incredible views! Nice and organized site with pavement pad pull-throughs and full hookups. Lots of channels by antenna. Great cell service. And close to Denver. One of the best places we’ve stopped. We will be back for a longer stay soon.

We have been coming to Chatfield many times a year for well over a decade because it is very close to our home. This state park has undergone major reconstruction over the past few years and I must say it is better now, though there have been no upgrades to the campground.
Chatfield is in the suburbs and now that is even more apparent when you see brand new neighborhoods going in right at the property line and down the street. However, it is still fairly quiet and feels a little like an escape in nature.
The sites are all large and most loops are pull-through (D loop is the only exception - but it is newer and has more pine trees). A, B, and D loops are full hook-up and only open April-October-ish ($41/night as of 2020). C loop is electric only and open all year long ($36/night as of 2020). The dump station is no extra charge. There are group loops that are often reserved by Boy Scouts or large families. You do need reservations for all sites - it is no longer a drive up and see campground. If you want to visit during peak season, I recommend booking 6 months early.
*If you do not have a Colorado State Park pass you will need to pay a daily entrance fee for every vehicle you have (ex. a class C towing a Jeep - that's two daily passes), but this allows you to explore the state parks during your stay.
On that note - if you love hiking or nature walks please also go explore Roxborough State Park. It's about 10 minutes South and is absolutely gorgeous. On your way back to the campground stop and get some lunch/dinner from Rosa Mexican Kitchen or Waterton Tavern, both are excellent and you'll drive right by them in the Safeway shopping center.
I have two negatives - one is the lack of hand soap in the bathrooms (its a CO State Park thing and it makes me crazy). Number two, because we are a state known for legalized marijuana you MAY smell it in the campgrounds from time to time. It's not a regular thing and it is not legal to smoke in the state parks (if you were planning on it), but it does happen.

Drive through camping slots with spacious sites! Campfire rings with cooking grates, safe, secure, with a lot of family activities! The only draw back is that it’s near a drone flying practice area. Still our favorite place to camp near Denver!
