This is a well kept state fishing lake. The lake is surrounded by Prarie and all the camp and picnic sites have shade trees. Camping is free!

We stayed here in our DIY camper van. It was a weeknight, and I think we were the only ones there. No real facilities, camping spots next to the lake. Rocky and not entirely level, but workable. Happy enough for a free overnight stay.

There are about 3 or 4 sites suitable for an RV. We were at the one at the end which was great if you have a larger RV (it was the largest and level). All are pull throughs for the most part. We got in late as we were just passing through and needed a place to park for the night. The spots near the bathrooms seemed taken, but we found a spot further along in a circle near the water. There was a fire ring. No level ground as it all slopes slightly toward the lake. Lots of mosquitos, but a pretty view when we woke up.

I drive a cargo van and had no trouble in or out. I have no idea about bigger rigs.I would definitely stay here if it wasn't a holiday and I wasn't in a hurry.

We were traveling through this area late and leaving early the next day, so finding a nice spot by a lake to camp for free was very exciting. Since it was dark when we came in, we didn't look around to pick a spot, but what we did see was quite nice. No other campers that we saw, but we did see a couple early morning fishermen. There seems to be quite a bit of wildlife around. The vault toilets were quite clean and the toilet paper hadn't been used yet. They removed trash receptacles, but as others have mentioned, people that go there seem to be pretty good about taking their trash with them. We always walk around to pick up trash and didn't find too much other than fishing line and cigarette butts.

Nice, quiet lake with great, tiered waterfalls near park entrance (walk across dam; at fork go left). I hear the falls are not so great, or dried up, if during drought. Several people fishing during day and not many camping overnight. About half and half tents vs RVs. Difficult to find a level site, due to being so close to water and slight downhill slope. I was able to get very close to level without having to use levelers. Expect to get a lot of dirt/dust on vehicles. Fortunately, the wind was blowing away from us, which helped a lot. Make sure you are self-contained as there is no water or RV dump station. Bathrooms have vault toilets (no water) and were very clean with lots of TP. It's difficult to find any trash anywhere. It was nice to see that everyone respecting the leave no trash behind rules. Never had any problem with cell phone service. This is a great FREE place to stay.

We stayed here only for one night while passing through but it was a perfect spot. There are fire pits, picnic tables, and the lake was really nice too.
It was very quiet- I think we were the only ones there.

We pulled in late afternoon on a Sunday and had a number of sites to pick from, all along the lake. Spent time in Cottonwood Falls walking around plus did a short drive to the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, seeing bison and the old school house, all very interesting. Laundromat in Cottonwood Falls is totally five stars.
