I think their pricing structure is keeping both campers and boaters away. They have a per person per day fee that is in addition to the campsite fee. It's $5 per adult per day plus $12 for the campsite. If you're 65 or disabled the per day fee drops to $2. Thus, the absolute cheapest cost per night is $14 and that seems pricey for dry camping where the only on-site activity is boating. We were in site 1 which is big, wide open, by itself, close to the boat ramp and the vault toilet. Site 3 is also big, by itself, and has more privacy but has no picnic table. Sites 4 - 9 are all bunched together with no separation, not our style. Except for a few boaters we were the only ones here over Thanksgiving weekend. Nobody wants to pay the too-high fees, and under different circumstances, we wouldn't have either.

The vault toilet was clean and maintained. The road in was nice and smooth. It’s a shame they started charging a fee, but I can’t blame them. It’s a nice spot, and very peaceful. Would have given 5 stars if it were still free.

The lake is calm now. All types of water birds abound here. Simply nice just to.set on the bank and watch the jumping fish, turtles sticking their heads out of the water, swimming ducks and cranes flying overhead.

This free campsite at the LCRA Lake Buchanan was less crowded than the popular Black Rock Campground and definitely less noise. The #1 campsite is located on the shore of the lake with good swimming area. The other sites (I think there are only 8) on the lake however beach access is not so accessible for swimming. Also there is much more shade trees than at Black Rock. These are primitive campsites; no water and there is a vault toilet. Also a public boat ramp.

When i got there, there is a sign up front that says starting April 1, 2018 they are now charging. I could not find a person or a place to pay, so I drove in to look around which was all i went there for. I drove 3 hours just to check it out. The road in is potholes galore!!!
Well, we were driving to look and a guy in a white truck chased us down and told us we had to go back up front and pay in the box. I told him I just wanted to look that I wasn't planning on staying or getting out of my car. He told me you gotta pay to look. Well, I'm not paying $5 each for the 2 adults just to look around. I saw what I needed to. It's not very well upkept there is no water hookups or anything else other than 1 boat ramp which looked very steep. The guy proceeded to follow me up to the front (probably to make sure I paid) but I left. The guy seemed rude and I was not dealing with it after a 3 hour drive. There is a place just down the road that is the same price the lady let me look around and was very friendly. The place is very well upkept if I was you I would steer away from cedar point and check out the other places in that area that are the same price.
