“No tree coverage, hot!”

Reviewed Jul 19, 2019

Overall Rating

We actually did tent camping on this trip and we REALLY wished we had our camper!! It was super hot!! No trees, no shade, except from the picnic table covering. We had to spend the afternoon in the visitor center since it was unbearable to be outside. We daydreamed that we were inside our camper with AC. We had nice views of the Ba... more

“Hook-ups for A/C and easy in and out sites”

Reviewed Aug 18, 2018

Overall Rating

You can tell they get a lot of one night stops by the way this campground was designed. Tge sites are all paved and pretty much pull through, but more like parallel parking. Very easy to get in and out of the site. In the summer you really need the A/C, so it is nice they have shore power available. I recommend reservations in the heig... more

“Just about the only choice in the park”

Reviewed Jul 18, 2018

Overall Rating

Despite the title and some not so positive reviews, we enjoyed our one night stay at Cedar Pass. Yes, the campground layout is not well designed. Not really accommodating for large rigs but that was ok for us - our 17 foot camper van just fit in the gravel drive. I can understand why those with large rigs/trailers would not be happy. “Well, the view is great ...”

Reviewed Jul 09, 2018

Overall Rating

This is the oddest, and perhaps worst campground we have stayed at. Still, it's the only game in, Badlands National Park with electric hook ups and facilities. With only a couple of exceptions, you park on the street next to your site. Those oyu can back into are really tiny and almost too tight for a car and trailer. There is no shade... more

“Not a great campground, but in a good location.”

Reviewed Jul 02, 2017

Overall Rating

Like many of the national park campgrounds that have been privatized, the value of this campground has dropped. Prices have gone up significantly, with no discernible increase in value. In fact, maintenance seems to be on the slide. There were many large potholes in the drives and the bathrooms could have been a whole lot cleaner. ... more

“Not a great option, but not much else to choose from”

Reviewed Mar 31, 2017

Overall Rating

My 3 star rating is based on the fact that, because of the time of our visit, the place was empty, otherwise it would be 2 stars. The main loops weren't open yet, and the only sites that were open this time of year (March 30th, 2017) were in the Group Loop. There was only one other vehicle there, so we were able to have some space to o... more

“Basic campground inside Badlands NP”

Reviewed Aug 29, 2016

Pretty basic campground inside the national park. Some of the sites offer electricity. There are two main loops. The upper and the lower. Believe the host is in site 11 in the upper loop (never saw them). Check-in procedure is handled by a third party. I'd recommend driving through the campground and make note of several adequa... more

“Location and electric”

Reviewed Sep 20, 2015

During our Badlands visit in early September the temperatures were soaring and hitting 100 degrees. Thus, we needed a site with electric and dropped in without a reservation.
