Couldn’t get ATT, but had 4 bars Verizon with booster: 1.7 downloads and 1.8 uploads. Bring your flyswatter. Flies were annoying and many would get in the rv. There are picnic tables and fire rings at many of the sites, but not all of them. Buy firewood before you come. We did hear coyotes down by the river in the evening. Overall, a beautiful place to stay.

It's the equestrian allowed area, so there will be horses. Some showed up at midnight next to us. But, they really are great to watch. This area has the best views of TRNP.
Clean grounds. Pack it in, pack it out. Well kept, clean vault toilets and a hand pump for water. We carry a couple 6 gallon jugs as we primarily boondock. So, this wasn't an issue. We did fill one day in the park at the picnic area.
We'd come back here in a heartbeat. $5 day with our National Parks Access Pass. The USDA does come through a few times a day.
ATT doesn't work. You have a few bars of roaming but, it doesn't allow for anything. Including calls. Our Verizon hotspot worked fine. ATT will get signal out of the valley.

Wonderful location just outside of TRNP north unit. Campsites well dispersed and described as others have written.
It’s windy here! Ranger said this is a calm year! Wow, would not want to go through a windy season then.
Water pump not conducive to filling an RV water tank. To do so, go to Juniper campground and use the spigot in picnic area. We called TRNP and ranger advised us to do so. Ranger even stopped by while we were filling and said it was fine.
Dump station at Juniper is closed so find alternative.
TRNP, this campground, and Sully State Park have some of the cleanest vault toilets around!

Hard to express how much we loved our stay here. It is a relatively short easy gravel road into the campground and then a wide array of pull-through or back in sites. Some of the pull-throughs are double sites front to back, but we chose one that was a single site with our front window facing the Badlands of Theodore Roosevelt NP north unit. The CG is about 2 miles from the park entrance, so very, very close.
The sites are gravel, spaced apart well and relatively level. There are no hookups and only a hand pump for water. Beside the site is a mowed area with a picnic table. And no matter what direction you look, the views are fantastic.
We were there the weekend of the Maah Daah Hey 100 mountain bike race which departs from the trailhead at the campground entrance. It was a blast watching the bikers head off on their journey to Medora.
The campground was very tidy and it was nice to be able to walk to trails directly from the campsite along with the proximity to TRNP.
A big bonus was that there is very decent Verizon signal (except for the couple hours before the bike race started). It would also be an amazing place to see the night sky, but we were there during a full moon.

First of all, the location is amazing - just outside the north section of T. Roosevelt National Park. We were able to be at our trailhead first thing in the morning and beat the heat and crowds. Fantastic! But, it was also a lovely campground. It was rather wet and muddy when we were there as it had rained quite a bit the day before, so some sites were not really usable, and we couldn't get to our picnic table b/c of standing water, but the loveliness of the campground offset this minor problem. It is surrounded by beautiful views of the river and badlands. What a gorgeous place to wake up to in the morning. Pit toilets were quite clean. For the price I cannot imagine a better option.

Other than the very smooth 1-mile long gravel road to get here, this campground is a boondockers delight. Views of the Badlands surround you with the Maah Daah Hey trailhead at the back of loop C, with access to the Little Missouri River. There were about 5 campers here when I arrived on a sunny Thursday afternoon so I had my pick of sites The campground consists of 3 loops, starting with C (27-38), then B (17-26) and A (1-16) in the back. Several vault bathrooms, a hand pump water source, and a picnic pavilion. This is CCC so it might take a bit of back and forth to level out but not too bad. The host was out mowing so the place look very clean and tended to - the prairie grass, small trees and shrubs made for a lovely setting. This campground is in Mountain Time whereas the TRNP across the river is in Central Time. The bridge is undergoing major construction with one lane closed so there were some minor traffic delays crossing to the park. After reading other reviews and then going to the south unit of TRNP I'd have to agree that this campground and the north unit are probably the way to go. With a bit of effort with the booster I was able to get a sporadic ATT signal of a few bars.

The only negative's we have is the one mile gravel road to get here. It was very dry and we threw up a cloud of dust the whole way in. (Which I now have to clean off everything) The other is the nearest town is Watford City. About 15 miles away. We went a few times just to pick up a few things and do some computer work while we were in town.
There is access to well water (which we opted not to use), and old pump style faucet, kinda retro. We were pretty much on our own when we arrived so picking the perfect site was easy. Luck we pulled in when we did as they are having a mountain bike race using the Maah Daah Hey trail this weekend. 97 miles of fun! The campground is slowly filling up the closer we get to race day.
The sites are gravel and mostly level but are not very used so the weeds and grasses are invading but not to big a deal.
Long and short of it, if we are in the area we would stop here again!
