We moved over here after staying in Juniper Campground for 5 nights. It was a better fit for our camping style with fewer people and no trees for solar/Starlink. The views are also better and it's 10 minutes closer to town. Juniper has flush toilets, potable water spigots, and a dump station but we just filled up on our way out. No trash service either but you can just drive to the park for the purpose.
The access road is dusty but it's in good shape besides the cattle guards. One is missing a bar so it's a big bump. Sites are grass and largely level. Most have good views of the surrounding badlands which is another plus.

What a find! Just across the Little Missouri Scenic (but really muddy) River from Theodore Roosevelt NP North Unit. Down a mile long gravel road with multiple cattle guards. Three loops…..Loops A & C are horse friendly, Loop B is not but all have big sites, widely spaced with ample room. There ate Jo Hookups; a pump water at the entrance, but not easily accessible…..come with empty tanks and lots of fresh water. Great trailhead at the campground….it’s 100 miles through to the South Unit of TRNP….or there is a nice 2 mile loop here also.
Tip: No firewood here, bring your own. Watford City is about 15 or so miles north, shopping is decent there. We would stay here again!

CCC second cattle guard is missing a bar so it gets really bouncy third cattle guard is missing the right hand fence post so it is not as wide as it appears keep to the left. The edges of the roads are soft avoid it if possible there is a few ruts but low clearance vehicle should be okay. Good access for campers tents and trail parking. A few sites in C loop are soft.

The first loop on the left had huge level pull though sites, any sized rig can fit as well as the loop to the right after the signage. The campground roads were dirt/gravel as were all the spurs. Virtually no shade, perfect for our fall visit. Picnic tables, fire pits and mowed grass.
Outhouses were clean and stocked. Trail access at the end of the first loop to the left and straight ahead of the signage is trail head parking.
Well worth $5 with the senior pass.

Nice big sites across the Little Missouri River from the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park (5 minute drive to park entrance). We much preferred it to the park campground. If you have a big rig you'll likely need to stay here. It is not very heavily used. On a July weekend there were 3 other campers in the campground, which must have 40+ sites. One thing to be cognizant of is that there is no shade. One nice feature is that there are some trailheads leaving from the campground that can create a few loop trails. While it is beside the Little Missouri River, there isn't any convenient river access. Once you see the river, you won't consider this a loss. Water in the campground is from a hand pump and tasted fine. Be aware that there is no garbage service or dump station here. Both of those are available in the National Park. I do not know the policy on non-campers using the dump station. While this is a remote area, Watford City is only a 20minute drive to the north and has all the amenities you need. (Propane at the Cenex, not the Tractor Supply)

This is a really peaceful spot. You can see over the river into the North Unit and you can access 3 different trailheads. I stayed in the B loop for 2 nights and it was only slightly buggy. One coil took care of the mosquitos. Nice and deep fire rings along with nicely mowed spots for tent setup. Vault toilets appear to be cleaner and restocked once a week per the cleaning sheet. That’s more than a lot of boondocking sites I’ve stayed at. The only downside is that I didn’t have cell coverage but I know other guests in my loop did have it and were able to make calls. No cell service is not a big deal for me but may be for others. If I ever return to THRO, I will stay at CCC.

As others have said this is a wonderful campground that must be a well kept secret. The A and C loops are equestrian, the B loop does not allow horses. That being said there were only four other campers in the 43 site campground and no horses on a June weekend. It is very convenient to the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt NP. Good Verizon. Dry camping. No trash dumpster. Hand pump water. Vault toilets. Large picnic pavilion. Friendly host. Self pay. It is $5 with pass.
We camped at site 31 which has great views and big horn sheep can be seen with binoculars on the mountains behind your camper at sunset. The sites are spread out and most sites will accommodate any size rig. If there was a lot of rain the campground would be muddy.
There are several trailheads at the campground including the Maah Daah Hey, Sunset, and Long X Trails.
The Little Missouri River which separates the campground from the national park is apparently the line for Central and Mountain Time zones. The North Unit of the TRNP is Central, but everything south including the South Unit of TRNP is Mountain Time. Your phones will be confused.
