Everything else near the state park was booked so I took a chance with Castle Keepers RV Resort. And I’m glad I did. The owner greeted me upon my arrival. Made me feel very welcome. Enjoyed peace and quiet the two nights I was there.
camper-807211 would stay here again

When I called to make the reservation, I had already reached out to three other parks who were booked. I didn't want to change plans to I was desperate to find a spot for 2 nights near the state park. When I called to make a reservation, the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. In fact, if I wasn't desperate for a spot, I would have cancelled the request mid conversation and hung up the phone.
We arrived late in the evening and the office was closed (no big deal). I had already been given our site number so we parked and set up. While unhooking, my 8 year old daughter was sitting at the picnic table. A large white dog approached our site, roaming free. He approach my husband and I for pets but when we saw our daughter, he hunkered down and started growling. My husband and I both acted quickly, dropped what we had and jumped in between them. The dog quickly calmed down and was friendly with her after that. He stayed at our site while we were outside and met us the next morning, followed us around while we hooked up and dumped. I had to keep a close eye on him and my daughter didn't get to spend much time outside as we didn't feel too safe with the dog roaming loose.
Utilities worked great, there's an easy to access dump on your way out and lots of signage. We had NO cell service (At&t) and since I work remotely, we had to move on after just one night. I went to the office in the morning, around 9 am, to let them know we'd be leaving early, but the office was still closed. We never saw a host during our stay, which was fine with us but others may not like.
We were on the edge of the park so we didn't see much of it. The site next to us was a long term tenant but their site was clean and orderly.

Tips - Use https://castlekeepers.biz for information. Arrive before dark, it's a rural park and a little tight.
Favorites - Close to Crater of Diamonds and Hot Springs. Camp host was super friendly and full of information about the local area.
Negatives - Nothing really, it's a no frills park. Some road noise but, not bad.
10/19 edit: Changing from 4 to 3 stars. Nothing has changed regarding the campground but, the pet issue is out of control.
All during our stay, a large puppy/dog was allowed to free roam and, while friendly, was a little over friendly with our puppy/dog on several occasions requiring me to separate and sequester our dog.
Further, the long-term individual next door was allowed to leave his German Sheppard in his RV full-time while he worked 4 on and 3 off. We were here four days and never laid eyes on the dog (can only imagine how nasty the inside of the RV was). We were treated to the dogs howls and cries though for the full four days.
They need to get these issues under control.
