The trains go by every couple of hours so if your into freight trains you will love this place. The rest of us will grow tired of the train whistles going off about every 2 hours. Just bring ear plugs. It is a nice park with lots of trees.

I little more off the road than I hoped, as we were just looking for a spot to stay on our way home. it worked well for our needs... seems like a nice campground. Didn't realize we were so close to the tracks, and these are busy tracks with trains coming by multiple times per day/night. I didn't notice them much and wife didn't hear them at all once we were asleep... but I would avoid the back rows if possible, as they are closest to the tracks... it appears to me, they fill the campground from furthest to closest first anyways as that end had hardly anyone.
Running the AC Fan all night helps, can't hear the trains from our spot.
Real campfire spots is nice. We stayed the night, and moved on... does show having a pool and hot tub. Everything was closed when we were here due to COVID-19.
Cable was currently out (listed on their info sheet at checkin)
Wi-Fi didn't work... I was able to connect, but couldn't get any where once connected..
Willabbott would stay here again

Love this place! Tall pines shade the entire place and it smells wonderful. Sites are rustic and fairly close together. Most people seem to be gone all day sightseeing so it’s very quiet even though they were booked up. Trail down to the river covered with blackberries that I plan to pick and make cobbler. Very nice attentive staff. Kevin told us over the phone that we would fit into the 110 foot pull through but when we arrived I had my doubts. Kevin offered to move some big rocks but it was unnecessary and we fit fine. Pretty rare for us and this 75 foot Toter Home and race trailer. Walked to the town of Cascade Locks for dinner. Cute town and a good dinner at the Locks Grill watching the Steamship Paddlewheeler leave. Will try a couple more restaurants before we leave. Nice pool and spa and clean laundry room. Have not used the bathrooms. Cute typical KOA store with the necessities and a bunch of stuff you don’t need! Would love to come back soon. Decent wi-fi too. Also, I love trains so no issues with the noise. Beats our usual TruckStop overnight. It’s all what you’re used too!
Mstewart would stay here again

This is the first time we have stayed at a KOA since being in our MoHo but when we tent camped with a preteen we stayed in several places. This KOA is actually more like "real" camping-as in more rustic, not a lot of people all over, and laid back. It's convenient to Portland AND Mt Hood and the Columbia Gorge and that, along with waiting too long to make reservations, is why we came here. In the end, although I have to say we would not return, it is only because of the train noise that we wouldn't. The staff is excellent and the other visitors that we met were very nice. But those TRAINS!!!
Access: Our Garmin had us heading a bit east of where the sign pointing to the campground was and as soon as we determined that it was kooky we turned around. The turn off Wa Na Pah St is onto Forest Rd NOT Hammond so it's only about 1.5 miles from the turn off from I-84. Very convenient! The sites, while not too private are large and there is plenty of room to sit without being right next to your neighbor. The sites are level and clean. A mixture of dirt and gravel they are watered down when yo leave so the dust was well controlled. The regs say no mats or rugs but virtually everyone had one and there was no problem. (I suspect this is in recognition that the area is somewhat dry. ) The sites, most of them, are nicely shaded and the day the temperature hit 98 we stayed relatively cool and comfortable until mid afternoon when we had the a/c on for a few hours. They have 30 A/water pull-thrus and back in as well as 50A (for $10 more) According to one neighbor they told her the noise from the trains was less in the more expensive sites but when I was in the showers, with 2 others running I not only heard but felt the train go by so unless you are running a/c with all windows closed I can't see it making that much of a difference.
Noise: This was the only really bad part of this experience. We understand that there is train noise next to the river whether in WA or OR but some of the trains literally shake the earth. In addition, they run all day and all night and some of the operators seem to lie on their horns coming through no matter what hour it is. The campground is quiet both day and night between trains unless your site is near the pool, in which case you hear people in the pool during the day but it's not bad.
Bathrooms and showers: are clean, the water in the showers stays hot all day but the shower heads are only about 5.5' off the ground so very hard for anyone with any height. The water pressure is OK but the stall is large with hooks and a bench and a nice floor that filters away the water.
Cell reception and WiFi: there is free WiFi but, as with most campgrounds that we have found, it fluctuates. Never fast, it is sufficient most of the time. We had both ATT and Verizon signals though-2 bars-so switched back and forth.
There is lots to do near here both east and west and the famous waterfalls, like Multnomah Falls, are all very nearby. Town is right down the road with several restaurants (we tried and liked the Ale House) and small grocery stores.
Pets are very welcome as long as on a leash and there is a dog run.
The garbage and recycling bins were full to overflowing when we arrived on Mon but everything was picked up on Wed.
Overall, I have to say that had we been in a 50A site where we could have run our A/C at night and kept the windows shut we might consider it again except for the $47/night price tag that would involve.

Let's start with I actually DO NOT want to give even 1 Star (that star could be for the 24 hour laundry). The manager Kevin is a total JERK! When I went into the office to see if there was another spot because it was next to impossible to get into the tiny spot that was NOT one of the spots that I requested on my reservation (yes I called them to reserve). He said, I can get you into the spot. Then he proceeded to try to boss-bully my husband yelling at him to turn the wheel this way and that (mind you my husband has been driving and parking our 44ft toy hauler for YEARS!!! He huffed off after he kept telling my husband what to do and that he was clear of obstacles, he was angered because my husband got out of the truck to verify the clearance for himself. So after he huffed off, I went to the office to inquire why the attitude. He then lied and stated that I was yelling and my husband and he did not care if he damaged the property (lies- I was talking to my husband on my cell as he was trying to park- no need to yell- the supposed property damage was an electrical box that my husband knew he would clear-and he did). He proceeded to continue to yell at me and then he then told me that I could just drive up the road, actually he said yes why don't just just drive up the road. I said your attitude is appalling and I am done speaking with you, I will call corporate, he then laughed and said good luck! When I told my husband everything, he apologized to him, but not 1 word to me!!! Sexist jerk! By the way trains are horrible, dirty and very tight spots! AVOID THIS PARK!!!
I also called KOA corporate offices, the representative was male and stated (you know when men get mad they just get over it), then he said I could leave a message for his boss and she would call me within 48 hours. This was her email: ---------------------------Thank you for taking the time to contact the KOA corporate office. I am sorry to hear of your experience. KOA campgrounds are franchised, independently operated onsite with the vast majority of them being privately owned as this campground is. All day to day operations, reservations, staff, funds paid are handled at that campground. Site requests are not guaranteed, and while some campgrounds will offer a site lock (that typically has a fee associated to it), this campground does not.
We have recorded your feedback in regards to the campground and the appropriate folks within the franchise department will review this also.
Kind regards,
Kim

I am not one of those people that is always complaining about the treatment of women, I have never really felt the in just behavior of it before now! This is not just a male/female thing, it is a basic human kindness interaction. I hated the 3 nights we spent here, I did not even wish to sit outside. The only time I was outside our RV was to go places we had planned to go. I tried to find another park, but they were all booked. KOA just lost a valuable customer, and I hope this post gives everyone insight into this company and how they value us as consumers male or female.
