“Quiet, secluded location”

Overall Rating

Carr Point RV Park is located in a separate area than the base. It's still on government land, but you do not have to go through a gate to reach it. It's in a little secluded area that borders to the water. There are only 5 RV sites with electric and water, but no sewer. In order to dump, we had to go to Newport RV park a few miles away and pay $20.
There is a railroad that crosses just in front of the park, but it is not active with trains so you won't hear any horns blowing. However, there are small pedal-powered rail cars on the tracks that go by frequently, but they're not loud.
We had our electric voltage drop several times while we were there. We reported it to the office, and while it got better, it didn't fully resolve.
We had good Starlink signal with 138 down, 12 up. Verizon on the phone was at 3 bars and with our cell router, it was 5 bars. AT&T with the cell router was also 5 bars.

Overall Rating

Stayed here over the 4th of July weekend. It was obviously one of the busiest weekends in Newport, RI. However, this offbase FamCamp was well maintained and offered a quiet area to return to after a busy day. The Campground does not offer FHU and there is no dump station, but we managed.There were some locals who accessed the waterfront area just beyond the campsites to fish, but other than that, no real issues. We really liked the NEX Mini-Mart which was also offbase and about a mile from the campground. It was the closest convenience store near the camping area. Very nice touch by the base to offer this for the surrounding base housing and RV Campgrounds.
