Capulin RV Park is a pretty nice private RV park across the highway from the Capulin Volcano National Monument entrance road. We stayed one night. Some of the sites are shady. The park streets and sites are crushed limestone. The park was clean and quiet. The sites are very close together; fortunately, it was not full and we had room. Restrooms and showers were clean (did not use shower). Amenities include: common fire ring with seating and view of volcano, swing with view of volcano. The staff was friendly.
Stayed in pull-thru campsite #25 which had evening shade and level. It was a crushed limestone site. There was barely enough parking for my 34 ft TT. Neighbors are VERY close. Utilities: 20/30/50A electric in middle of site. Water in middle of site, good pressure. Sewer in middle of site with 4-in screw-on fitting.
AT&T had two bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 36.6 Mbps down, 7.5 Mbps up. Free WiFi is available, but did not use it.
The town of Capulin, NM is very small. The closest restaurant is The Sierra Grande Restaurant in Des Moines, NM, which is open year round for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Other restaurants and fast food are available in Raton and Clayton.
Would stay here again.

We called ahead and left a message which was promptly returned. When we arrived, they owners were so friendly and came out to greet us to check us in. They set us up for the end spot which allowed for some nice afternoon shade. The bath house was very clean and looked like it was recently constructed. When we were leaving the next morning they were doing more maintenance along the grounds. You can tell they take great care of the RV park to make it as comfortable as they can.

Owner Is very friendly and accommodating. I did not use their bathhouse so I can’t comment regarding the bathrooms. Great stop on our way to the mountains and would recommend as a good place to lay over.

I travelled here with a 35’ 5th wheel, long bed pickup and parked in site #16, a FHU PT site for $37/night. This is primarily a large gravel lot. The PT was too short for my rig which made it a bit difficult getting turned into the site and situated properly. And the sites were very close together. Luckily they were not full so I parked the truck in another site most of the time. I felt like the nose and rear of the RV were sticking out in the access road. There were no tables or firepits. The restroom had a code which I was not given when I checked in. The laundry room was locked and when I went to the office (their home) to get a key, no one answered the door even though I could hear them inside. I ended up calling them to get access. It was a metal shed with exposed studs and spray foam. It was dirty as well. $1.25/wash, $1.00/dry. Based on how dirty it was I didn’t ask about the code for the bathroom. I was not told there was wifi, but one showed up in my menu. I didn’t link to it because I felt a little creeped out by all the signs around the park that said “video surveillance in use.” It made me think that it wasn’t a safe place to stay. There is definitely road noise from the highway and a large billboard at the edge of the park had lights that were very bright at night. Location is the only thing going for this park since it’s the closest place to stay to visit Capulin Volcanic National Monument.

I call and leave messages for when we are planning to camp & always get a call back & are set up for camping.
We do not use the bathhouse, but I have peeked inside and it was very clean & nice!
Campground is clean and quiet. We had 50 am full hookup. The water is great -- we are picky water people used to wells and not city water!!
Owners have always been friendly and had good visits with them. We look forward to staying with them in the future.
They do offer wifi and we had no issues. My Verizon 4G had about 2/3 bars.
Great views & temps are great the times we have visited. Night skys are wow!

Have stayed here each time I travel to the north west. After the first time I make plans to come again. Very friendly owners, the reviewers that don’t like it here are usually rude and self entitled. Clean, pleasant, and quiet. Amazing sun sets.

Convenient overnight stop on our way up north. The host greeted us nicely, we were given our choice of spots. We had our choice of partial or full hook-ups. Entire park is gravel, spots relatively level. There is a bathroom and laundry room but we did not go into it. Park is directly off the highway, easy to find. Highway is not heavily traveled, it was pretty quiet, there were only three other units there.
The town is very small, 66 inhabitants, the park and a convenience store across the highway are the only things in town. Which was inconvenient for us as we came in experiencing a potentially serious problem with our truck. Nearest town with any services was 26 miles further north, none of which were open on a weekend.

“Rude owner”
noted 10/25/2021
Don't bother wasting your time here. Very rude and angry owner. We reserved a night here and when we arrived there was a sign that said park was closed. I tried doorbell at office 2 times and no answer. I then called and finally a lady comes storming out of office and very rudely asked who we were and what we were doing there. I said we had reservations and the sign said you were closed. She told me there was no sign so I showed her the sign posted in front of the office. Although we were ready to stop for the day and take care of our severely handicap daughter, we decided to leave. The owner has some serious issues with running a business and dealing with people!

Overall beautiful place to stay. We're from Colorado and it's way cheaper for water and electric hookups.
