Canal Campground

This is a beautiful campground with very nice sites, water and elect and some w sewer. Bathrooms clean but dated. We are on site 30, Fishermans Row loop. Very level, gravel pad. Nice grassy area behind our site down to the lake. So much to do in Land Between the Lakes.

Only downside was that this campground is a golf cart mecca. They like to stop to talk and block the road and its a constant parade in front of your site. Campground is top notch. Bathrooms and shower were old but usable. Site 78 was dead flat even though its on the hill loop. Road on the hill loop is narrow, I wouldn't take a rig over 35 ft in here.

AT&T cell coverage was good, 5 bars of 5G, no need for a booster. Lots of hiking at nearby Land Between the Lake Rec Area.

While living full time on the road for 3 years, we’ve made a decision NOT to go to campgrounds on weekends but made an exception this past weekend which proved our point. Even though the campground is very clean and spacious with hookups or not, next to water, people made it a miserable experience. There were a group of 3-4 families who would take off in the day and then return to party all night until 1am. The camp hosts would drive around in the day but nobody checked at night. We stayed an extra 2 days on Monday-Tuesday and it was blissfully quiet. Also checkin and checkout is 3pm, so when do the sites get cleaned? So…we would definitely stay here again during the week but we’ll stick to our original plan to never stay in any campground on the weekends.

This is a COE campground just north of Land Between the Lakes Recreation Area. Perfect location for commuting to Quilt Week in Paducah! All sites have water/electric and there are some FHU sites as well. Site 23 is a back-in level site, with water and 50 amp electric and it had a nice lake view. AT&T was 1-2 bars 5G (at times overloaded), OTA channels (2-3 usable channels), wi-fi was n/a. They have 3 dump stations. Very close to Great Rivers with decent restaurants, but went to Paducah for groceries. This campground is very wooded and secluded and has beautiful views and close to many trails in the LBLRA. We would definitely stay here again and wrote down the best sites to go after!

Sites are really big easy to drive around and see what site you want many were available on the island for Internet it’s best to stay where you can see the lake you get more bars if you go into the woods you have less bars great swimming hole and showers there a great place to regroup after staying in the inner island in the national forest

This is obviously a favorite of the locals, as the campground was packed even during the middle of the week. Sites were paved, level and ours even had full h/u! Each site had a picnic table and fire ring/grill and they were spaced W I D E apart. Th area is very hilly, so it was a bit tricky backing into this particular site to keep from fitting trees, signposts and keep from falling off the other side of the narrow road, but… we got it done. This is a lakefront park on the Barkley side of The Land Between the Lakes, so plenty of water activities and facilities. It is densely wooded with plenty of trails and well over a hundred RV sites. Bathrooms were clean and everything was well-maintained. The staff were very courteous and helpful.

The campground is about half an hour from downtown Paducah, so there are plenty of things to see and do there, including the National Quilt Museum, if you are so interested. Vibrant downtown area with grest places to eat, shop and meander.

We stayed in a section known as "The Flats", not a bad site, a little different...sort of like camping along the side of a parking lot. Our site, 107, was closest to the lake on the right side. For more privacy, we parked so that our awning and outdoor sitting area faced the woods/firepit/picnic table rather than the parking lot, then ran our electric and water lines under the RV over to the hookups. An extension for our 20 ft electric line was necessary. Most of the campground sites are in a wooded area, not like the Flats. It's quiet and right on Lake Barkley so we're happy 😊

There's a large picnic pavillion at the end of the parking lot and a dock. A few golf carters cruised through after dark, but they were electric and quiet. I could see this area being busy in high season, I wouldn't stay in The Flats during that time.
