From Glacier National Park in Montana to Arches National Park in Utah, these campsites provide epic views and put you close to it all, without breaking the bank. Here are five locations where you can camp for free in the Western U.S.

1. Flathead National Forest. Located near Columbia Falls, Montana, the Blankenship Bridge dispersed camping area puts you within proximity to Glacier National Park. Just be sure to pay attention to the weather, as the routes leading to this camping area can be difficult to traverse after significant rain.

2. Coconino National Forest. With a higher elevation, this free camping area is perfect for beating the heat and escaping the crowds. The land offers plenty of spacious, wooded campsites and hiking trails. Plus, it’s located just outside of Flagstaff, Arizona, and only 40 minutes away from Sedona.

3. Blackridge Area. This Bureau of Land Management (BLM) property offers free dispersed camping near Moab, Utah—and Arches and Canyonlands national parks. Rigs of all sizes can find camping in this area, with each site offering epic views.

4. Santa Fe National Forest. Sitting just outside of downtown Santa Fe, New Mexico, this national forest offers free camping for rigs of all sizes and the roads are easily accessible. The best part about camping here is being within proximity to Santa Fe for entertainment, dining, shopping, and more.

5. Bachelor Loop Road. Near Creede, Colorado, this dispersed camping area offers plenty of space to set up your rig, with some established sites offering fire rings. Here you’ll be surrounded by picturesque mountain views and unique rock formations, and you’re only a short distance from town for food and shopping.
